I have really liked this series ... You've really brought Thranduil out as a sympathetic, interesting, believable character. Thanks so much for the time you put into this... Author Reply: Thank you! It's been a personal twelve-year epic for me. (Really? Wow, just did the math.) I'm always so happy when other people can enjoy it.

I was super excited to see this update. I have read each chapter of this series and I can just *feel* how Thranduil has grown from a youth of Doriath to the stubborn King of Lasgalen determined to defend his people or die trying. I have to admire him and his determination to persevere despite the odds against them. This ellon has survived kinslayings, marching across Beleriand in the dead of winter without any provisions, The Last Alliance, the death of his father and wife...I found the line where you talked about all of that preparing him for this moment very touching...it is so true! I can not wait for more! I am also enjoying THe Red Winter! Thank you for continuing! Author Reply: Thank you for reading! Reviews like this keep this story alive. :)

I have been looking forward greatly to this update and I have read your story a couple of Times entirely the last year. A fantastic take on Thranduils family and the Elven king is very human in many ways with a good heart and not flawless. I love your Thranduil and his Queen and legolas. I especially enjoyed the chapters in Ost en edil. Gwaelas is my second favourite besides the king. Such a good friend with a quiet strenght that is healthy for Thranduil .I can see all Whats happening in front of me as I read. One of my best fanfiction ever truly.:) Author Reply: Thank you! I hope to have time to update more often. :)

Oh my gosh, an update!!! You have no idea how thrilled I was to see this. (Or maybe you do know, since I pestered you a few times.) This chapter led to several revelations for me, first and foremost being that Tolkien really missed some fantastic opportunities with the character of Thranduil. The bits Tolkien did give us are fascinating enough on their own, but he inexplicably neglected Greenwood and its people in favor of telling us more about the Noldor. His missed opportunity is our gain, and you have taken full advantage of it. I have also finally realized that Elrond and Galadriel can't help Thranduil, even if they wanted to, because the rings have made them weak and I think they know it. Any strength left to the elves lies with Thranduil and his people. Thank you for making me love them all the more. Author Reply: I know, right? I treasure every little canon reference to Thranduil, few and far between as they are. Thanks for reading! I probably never would have gotten through this chapter without some prodding. :)
