Interesting that even back in those days, learning ones letters was considered trouble. ;) The only thing that changed is that it's now considered trouble only for some of the working-class hobbits.

Author Reply: Well, back in those days it was unheard of for any hobbits! Galasgil had a very important role to play in hobbit history!

Ah, I'm delighted to see that this series is not abandoned! Like the casual way literacy came to the Shire!

Author Reply: Never abandoned! In fact I have been working on it for a while. I decided to just go ahead and get all the chapters about Adamanta's children done without worrying about word count, and then go back and tweak each one to 300 words, instead of trying to get each one perfect one at a time. Slower updates to begin with, but much quicker in the end.

It is rather casual. But I thought it might be plausible.

Now this is interesting!

In Addie I can see two of our favourite hobbits: Pippin, because she loves to sing and play instruments and Frodo, because she loves to write. And she's fascinated with (or is it "by"?)Elves.

Author Reply: Yes, the musical side will probably show up in Pippin's line at some point or another.

Both "with" and "by" are correct, but "by" is more common.

Dreamflower,

I forgot to mention in Raz's review. "insatiable curiousity"? Sounds like someone loves Kipling as much as I do (he's my second favourite author/poet, no prizes for guessing first favourite, hmm?)

Anyway, on to Addie. I love love LOVE this nickname. Adamanta Took! Ah, but it's easy to see Frodo in her. I love her taking to the Elf so! I wonder what her brothers and sisters that follow will be like. :)

P.S. How are *you* faring, Dreamflower? It's been ages since I've written to you, and it seems like eons since you've posted on this story - heh! I do hope you are doing well...I had a scare with Atto Fiondil when he ended up in the hospital. But he's all right now. Are you all right?

Author Reply: LOL! Well, Tooks pretty much were insatiable. Do you suppose the Elephant Child was a descendant? LOL!

You will see each of the five main hobbits in several of the children, but some more than others. Keep your eyes peeled: I expect you to notice a certain genealogical pattern to the birth order AND the names.

I'm fine. I've had a lot of writing to do that's kept me away from some of my WIPs, but I actually had been working on this story. I decided that rather than trying to get each one word perfect one at a time, I was going to do all of the children's chapters done, and THEN start in on getting them to 300 words exactly. Some of the chapters still need tweaking by a few words more or less, but that won't take long.

I had some non-fanfic writing I am working on, plus I had a b2mem story I wanted to complete for the finishathon, but I soon realized that it was just too much for the deadline, so I emailed the mod yesterday to drop out. I will still finish that story, but not till I get more of my OTHER fics done.

What a lovely description of the child, and somehow she reminds me very much of Frodo. But the Fallohide strain was strong in the Tooks and in Frodo as well, of course.

Author Reply: The Fallohide strain will show its influence among all of these children and their descendants.

Of course, in "my" universe, Frodo is a throwback to almost the pure Fallohide type; he got just the right combination of genes through his various relations who all had part of the Fallohide strain in them to come together in him. In fact my idea of Tuk is that he looks exactly like his descendant Frodo except for the color of his eyes, which are brown. (The notion being that the lighter eye-colors found among the gentry are a result of Adamanta's influence.)
