The details of Aragorn's plans and discussions about the rebuilding of Annúminas are totally fascinating, and I have grabbed them unabashedly for my personal headcanon *g*. The scene was also particularly carefully written, I thought, very subtly showing just how Aragorn makes the Hobbits instantly comfortable by his demeanour, his way of speaking - and of course by providing food *g*. There were allusions in "Road to Edoras" about Mosco wondering why he was on the embassy, and his feelings about feeling a little useless. When you had him watching the buildings in Minas Tirith so intently in a previous chapter, I was wondering if that would be the kernel to the solution, and I'm happy I got it right. And how neat that it is a "Burrows" who will help in the rebuilding. Is that coincidence or did you do this deliberately? Either way: I like it! Author Reply: Why thank you! That's a high compliment! I love it when people tell me that! He's spent enough time with hobbits now to understand what makes them comfortable: just enough formality to satisfy good manners, but not enough to be embarrassing, a setting that is physically comfortable, and, of course--food. *grins back* You are quite right. I wanted Mosco to begin to come into his own when he got to Minas Tirith, and I was hoping some readers would catch on to his keen interest in architecture and the details of building. And you are also quite right about the Burrows part. It was deliberate; the name gave me the idea, since I thought perhaps it indicated that the building of "burrows" might run in the family. I'd begun to have these ideas about Mosco back when he first volunteered to go. (And I have another something in mind for him as well!)

How wonderful that Mosco had the courage - and not even in a pinch - to speak up and make his offer! It's great that all the hobbits are getting to be familiar with the King and Queen, which can only further Aragorn's purpose when he does eventually travel north. Author Reply: Yes, Mosco's finding his courage, and it will make a big difference in his life. And yes, this is just the idea behind having the embassy! They must get used to this new King, so that there will be some who know him when he goes to his other kingdom!

Nice to see the Hobbits invited to this informal visit. Aragorn really does his best to make them feel comfortable and welcome, and I like the way he includes them into the planning. Now it seems we have found the perfect pastime for Mosco; he apparently is rather eager to help with building the new Hobbit wing in Annuminas. And that way, he doesn't have to feel useless or bored while staying in Minas Tirith. Working closely with the Men will help him to get more confident around them, too, as this time they will have to listen to him. Well done, Aragorn! (and Dreamflower ;)) Author Reply: Aragorn knows that hobbits are knowledgeable and intelligent, and that they'd want to be included in the planning of things for the Northern Kingdom. I hoped that I had conveyed Mosco's fascination with buildings and construction through his observations-- it seemed a natural fit for him to join in with that project.

I am so very glad to see you continue with this story. It's evolving very nicely & I'm glad Mosco has found his niche. Thanks for writing. Author Reply: Thank you for your review, and for sticking with the story even after so long a hiatus! I hope to be updating much more frequently now! *crosses fingers*

I love the courage Mosco has found. And it's wonderful they have granite to trade! Author Reply: Well, I am extrapolating that there were quarries in Scary for a reason! So it would be a good opportunity for trade.

Oh, I love seeing these hobbits find their pathes. Mosco surprised me with his nerve in this chapter. I like the way Aragorn put everyone at ease too. Looking forward to more. Author Reply: Mosco is surprising himself. Aragorn is fond of hobbits, and aside from Gandalf and maybe Elrond, he knows hobbits better than any other Big Person.

Hurray for Mosco! Glad he found his place. Thanks for answering me about Surgical Steel. She has not posted in her LJ site for some months and I was worried that something was really wrong. Author Reply: Yes, Mosco is beginning to find his feet now!

And so we see more of the interaction of the hobbits with the King and Queen and other people of Gondor. I'm glad Mosco has found his calling. I'm sure he'll do just fine helping to design and build houses for hobbit guests in Annúminas. I'm glad you are still continuing this story, Dreamflwer. I've been enjoying it very much. Author Reply: Yes, Mosco has found his true calling and his reason for being along. I look forward to showing more of his development.

The buildings here are beautiful, but they will loom uncomfortably if you wish to welcome hobbits. A bold and important comment. These are such wonderful plans! I'm very happy for Mosco. Author Reply: Planning had to go into these things! I love stories about the rebuilding of the North; I think it's important to show the role hobbits might have had in that process. Perhaps because he is a "Burrows", I've thought his family might at some point have been hole-builders, so I've long planned this particular development.
