Aha! The penny has at last dropped! It is a horrible thing to contemplate, I suppose. But perhaps the warriors from this settlement were so excellent because Haldir, his brothers, and their companions were brought there when and as they were.

Author Reply: He and his friends are horrified, but they do at least have an explanation and some much needed understanding now. You will see how Haldir and his comrades come to shape things and be shaped in return.

I can hardly imagine what it must be like, suffering grievous wounds and time travel, to try to piece it all together.

And now the words have been spoken.

So interesting to have LotR characters go back in time (rather than mere modern mortals). And you have a logical mechanism for the time travel; those aren't easy to come by. I suppose that means they're in Beleriand to stay ... unless perhaps at the Ring's destruction...?

“Lord Celeborn told us about courageous and mighty warriors he knew in the early times of Doriath in the Night before nights. They carried great long bows unlike any weapon ever before seen in Doriath and bore deadly swords. They came from a settlement called Celos Galen. Lord Celeborn also said that by the time that Lord Denethor Lenwion came to Thingol’s aid in battle, Celos Galen was no more."

Inevitable, I suppose, that such warriors would end up where the fighting was. And were the particular warriors in this story some of the ones Celeborn met in Doriath? Wise Celeborn, to tell no more.

Author Reply: My mechanism for time travel is from another short story I wrote called "Night Terrors" (found in Eclectic Whimsies or EW for short LOL). Time travel doens't pccur in that story but other things do which Hal and Angaril described in this chapter. I'm pleased it works so well :-)

As for Celeborn's words, even Haldir and his friends do not understand the meaning of them in full.

Well, at least somebody is putting the pieces together...
Now let's see how much time it will take for them to fully comes to terms with where (and WHEN) they are.

Author Reply: It did take long enough for six to put two and two together, didn't it? There are many ways in which the group will hve to come to terms and they really are not as prepared for them as they think they are.

OMG!!!! Talk about hitting your head and falling down a rabbit hole! Now this is a mystery our boys are going to have a hard time figuring out. This is a great story Ellie, extremely intriguing. thanks for the great read

I've just spent lunchtime reading so far - and I am totally hooked. What a fascinating premise for a story.

Author Reply: Yay on being totally hooked on the story :-) I'm so happy you are enjoying it. I started this story about 6 or so years ago, and it wasn't until last year that I was able to get it moving beyond chapter 1. In truth, my biggest obstacle has been figuring out where and when they were/are/were going to be because the muse simply refused to reveal such to me. Apparently it was on a need to know basis, and, as author, I simply did not need to know! After having confessed this, if it is any comfort, I am working on chapter 24 now, so there is time for the muse and life to cooperate or not and still meet the schedule for posting which I have established.
