'There's no growing old while the Sea is still young.' *sigh* That is nice. I love Tolkien's vision of the Sea ... Author Reply: I live about a ten-minute drive from the ocean, and love to watch and listen to the waves, and think about lands faraway. Somewhere out there, the hobbits are enjoying life in the West.

This is a great idea to have Bilbo and Frodo compose songs and poetry together. I love the idea that Irmo gave them a shared vision to get them going. That should keep them occupied for a good long while. Author Reply: My apologies for the delay in responding to your sweet review. It's lovely to imagine the hobbits so at home in the West, still busy and creative and respected by their friends.

How beautiful! They should have started much earlier to write together. “It appears we’re in for a new adventure, Uncle.” Bilbo beamed at him happily. “And whyever not? Remember what I taught you, dear boy? About the Road?” “It goes ever on and on,” Frodo said quietly. These lines are simply perfect! Author Reply: Thank you, Andrea! I truly appreciate your lovely comments, and especially when you highlight lines that you particularly like. *beams*

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get here, my dear. This is splendid, especially the first line and I think the title too. I hope with Erestor that we will see this new song! Surprised and pleased that Bilbo had the energy to stay up all night but when you are doing something you love, time passes without notice. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thank you for your delightful review, my friend. Bilbo truly loves writing poetry, and it's a joy to think of him collaborating with his 'dear lad'.

Yay there was an update here! :D What a sweet story. It made me smile, as your stories always do. Author Reply: Thank you, what a lovely thing to say! You made *me* smile. :)

This was such a delight to read - both for the hope that the two dear Hobbits might be living in such joy, and for the beautiful poetry. Beautifully written. Author Reply: Thank you. Hope and joy are two of the things I want most for our beloved hobbits.

What a sweet beginning to a new endeavor! There is yet much for the two of them to do in this world, obviously. Author Reply: I think so, too. I believe they would have learned to be creative and 'at home' in the West, with many friends.

Too bad Bilbo and Frodo never thought to collaborate while they were both in the Shire. Oh, the songs they could have made together! At least they get to do it here. A lovely, gentle tale as always, Shirebound. Thanks for sharing. It's good to see you writing again. Author Reply: Thank you, Fiondil. I hope you're feeling much better. It's very good to *be* writing again, especially to add another peaceful scene to the hobbits' lives in the West.

This is how I like to think of Frodo's and Bilbo's years in the West: happy, delighting in beauty, and all the while cherished by their elven friends. I don't know if you intended it, but your verse contains the four elements: Set sail through the Music so long ago sung. (music is of the air) There's no growing old, while the Sea is still young. (water) Through starlight we fly in fiery streams, (starlight is of fire, and its reflection in the water resembles fire) Past mountains of crystal in ships made of dreams... (earth) Author Reply: I did *not* intend or realize it, and I appreciate you pointing that out! I'm so happy you enjoyed this. We imagine the hobbits' years in the West the same way. :)
