| So cute! I've seen this one before. I haven't read the story in which the mouse originally appears, but I still like this one. I'm sure Reepicheep (sp?) and Frodo will get along splendidly. Wonder what Sam will think of him. ~~~~~{~@ Author Reply: Reepicheep is from Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawntreader from C.S. Lewis's Narnia series. I figured that of all the characters I could think of from that universe, he'd be the most likely to find himself on Tol Eressea! And I'm sure that he and Frodo will along very well. As for Sam, I suspect he'll take it in stride, once he gets there. | |

| Reepicheep in Tol Eressëa, wonderful. He is one of my favorite characters from Narnia. I do hope you write more with him in it. He's just to cute for words. | What a brilliant stroke of imagination! I did so love Reep in the chronicles. A delightful character. You do him proud. Just the thought of the two of them eating a piece of cheese together, sharing their tales, and watching the sun set in the... West? East? I ponder the juxtaposition of Psalm 103. "As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." Realizing that Middle-earth was turned from flat to circular, east is west and west is east, but Eru has no problem with making things happen. Even causing a meeting between a brave mouse and a stalwart Hobbit. (Don't tell Reep, but I think Frodo really needed a pet.) *g* Author Reply: Well, in sailing East, Reep came upon the eastern shore of the Lonely Isle, while in sailing West, Frodo arrived on its western shore. When East and West meet in such a manner, should not two such heroes find it possible to meet? (And I promise I won't tell the mouse as long as you agree not to let Frodo know that Reepicheep considers him a friend worth guarding!) | |

| What a delightful surprise to see Reepicheep here! I read the Narnia books as part of my first semester of starting my Master's Degree at the Mythgard Institute. My favorite was Dawn Treader. I love this most Tookish of mice and the scene of him leaving in his coracle at the end to seek more adventure. More, more! *hugs him and you* Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: My favorite is "The Silver Chair," actually, although I also love "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader." Reepicheep, a Tookish mouse? If you add in a good deal of self-conceit and a bit of ennui, perhaps. Am so glad you enjoyed it! | |

(and East and West all the same from there, yes, that does make a certain kind of sense if you tip it on one side and squint a Mortal eye) What a lovely treat! (And Happiest of Birthdays to Harrowcat, and many happy returns!) Author Reply: I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Lindelea, and that you got time to read today. I doubt that Olorin has been able to visit all of the worlds as yet. I'm trying to imagine him on the Diskworld, being totally taken aback by the Librarian, although I think he and Granny Weatherwax would understand one another and find kindred spirits in one another immediately. "A Witch sees what needs doing and sees it done!" Yes, he'd understand that immediately! In the Western churches Christ sits at the Father's right hand, while in the Japanese churches He sits at the Father's LEFT hand, that being the place of honor in Japan. So, Uttermost East and West, in the end, are the same place, only adjusted for handedness, I suppose. I send love to the younger Hobbits and the husband, Zoe, and the cats. The poms had to have baths this morning--one got sick last night, and there was a good deal of cleaning up to do before I could lie down once I got home from work. They send tail wags, and Lydia, Simon, and Sydney send purrs. | |
