Ransom  by MP brennan 7 Review(s)

A most likely scenario to have happened. Azzam is a decent man pushed to survive in an indecent environment, and Aragorn is doing the best he can to maintain the fragile peace that Azzam so wishes for. And I rejoice that the father Hakim realizes his brotherhood with the stranger Haradri, both grieving, fearful fathers merely wishing to ransom their sons.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for all your reviews. In this chapter, I'm particularly glad that you picked up on the dynamics between Aragorn and Azzam, since they shape so much of the plot. I hope you enjoy where this story goes.

And happy belated birthday!

I felt the anger that Darkheel must have felt! For all of them...really. The feeling of helplessness....I'm so irritated!

Most memorable seen..."my gaze was drawn again and again to a lonely figure who stood out in the wastes, gazing west into the dying sun". That scene stayed in my mind for a long time. Very powerful!

I find myself drawn more and more into this story. It's fascinating. I never thought much of the Haradrim except as evil enemies and allies of the Dark Lord, but this shows them in a whole new light, as victims to be pitied too. I'm looking forward to the coming chapters.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you're enjoying this! I've always been curious about the "evil men" who served Sauron. The Haradrim were especially interesting to me, since Aragorn is known to have traveled among them and one of the first things he does as king is to make peace with them. This was my attempt to explore that culture a little more. I hope you enjoy where it leads!

An excellent and gripping chapter.I was on tenterhooks lest the slavers find Aragorn!
At least the family seem to be turning away from Sauron worship.

Author Reply: Thanks for another awesome review, Linda! I'm glad you appreciated the tension in this chapter.

What a frightening and uncertain life, but these good folks are surviving it. Oh, the amazement and delight they will know when the identity of the new King is revealed to them!

Author Reply: Thanks for the review! Yes, I'm trying to show the Haradrim as an oppressed people, to an extent, with Sauron as a corrupting influence on their culture. In my mind, there will always be people who try to profit from that kind of situation and people who just try to survive it.

I hope you keep reading!

Chilling chapter. Listening in the dark, Aragorn must have wondered at his own safety. He does have much to be grateful that he was found by an honorable family.
