I've just worked my way through this entire series. I'm awed by it and by the intensity and quality of your writing. I loved it. I can't think of an LoTR story in recent years that is half so imaginative. Well done. This was another outstanding chapter. Author Reply: Wow! I am always so humbled when someone new says they read this all the way through. Thank you so much for sticking with it. And thank you so much for your very kind words. I really hope that you continue to read and enjoy. The next story is just a bit of humor to shock Legolas in the Mannish town. But after that, the next stories really bring all the Marti plot to a climax. Thank you so much for reviewing! It really made my day!

Wow! Definitely an action packed chapter as others have said. Also some interesting character changes. Tureden really comes around. I guess seeing Legolas taking responsibility helps him see him differently. And Legolas has come around a bit too--he is offered a chance to not kill Mauril and he refuses it. That kind of shocked me. Great chapter. Looking forward to the next one. Author Reply: Sorry, I would have sworn I had answered these. Both of those personality changes (Tureden's and Legolas's) come up in this next chapter, so I'll let the character's explain themselves to you. Glad it came across as action packed. I hope you continue to enjoy! And thanks so much for the reviews!

Wow! That is honestly my only reaction to this chapter. SO MUCH DRAMA and suspense and everything- you kept me at the edge of my seat!! It was so satisfying to see Mauril and Pelin dead, although I am worried that Fuilin is not the only servant out and about. Could there be other ones that we do not know of? I also have a bad feeling about Thranduil et al still on the hunt. Obviously, Thranduil does not die, but what about the others? And I'm getting to a point where I am extremely nervous about Lindomiel. I desperately want to believe that she will always be there for Legolas in the background, and make it past The Hobbit and LOTR and sail with Thranduil, but gosh, I was so scared that Legolas would come back to the stronghold only to find that Fuilin had already infiltrated or something and had gotten to Lindomiel. Aghh! But that is for much later, and I am simply rambling my fears! Great chapter! I'm so happy to see Tureden and Legolas get on better terms! Author Reply: Sorry. I thought I already answered these! I am so glad it came across that way. I can never judge these types of chapters, because I already know what is going to happen. None of it seems dramatic to me. :-) You are so right. You are so right, just not in the small details. That is all I'm gonna say. :-) Thank you so much for the reviews. I appreciate them so much!

Legolas has certainly redeemed himself for the earlier failure to maintain the security of the escape door from the cave. He is all warrior and definitely Thranduil's son as he works to capture or kill Mauril. I was drawn in with bated breath as you described the nerve wracking cliff jump and rush down the narrow trail. It was very descriptive and it drew me right into the chase. Legolas may have learned a lot about tracking on that adventure, but I think he may have also initiated some of the Palace guards into cliff diving. I liked the way that Legolas kept his cool in dealing with Tureden, basically telling him that the king's orders superceded anything else he was told. And being willing to sacrifice himself for the safety of the realm showed that Legolas has learned the true meaning of being the king's son. Now is the hard part for me, waiting until next Tuesday to get to the next chapter. Author Reply: I was so certain I had answered reviews. I did it in my head, anyway. Sorry! I was definitely trying to show Legolas was willing to do anything to redeem himself, so I'm glad that came across. I'm so glad it seemed tense to you. These things are so hard for me to judge. I think he may have also initiated some of the Palace guards into cliff diving. LOL!! I liked the way that Legolas kept his cool in dealing with Tureden, basically telling him that the king's orders superceded anything else he was told. And being willing to sacrifice himself for the safety of the realm showed that Legolas has learned the true meaning of being the king's son. This made my day because it is almost verbatim what my chapter notes say this chapter needed to do. :-) Sorry to make you wait until Wednesday! Like I said--holiday totally messed up my schedule! Author Reply: Oops! And I forgot the most important part. Thanks so much for the reviews! I really appreciate them!

That was such a tense chase in the first part of the chapter - my heart was pounding by the end. I'm glad that Legolas and Tureden have cleared the air and apologised to each other. They both made mistakes, but Tureden proved himself a good guard when he jumped off the cliff even after being injured. Author Reply: Sorry, I would have sworn I'd answered reviews. The holiday messed me up. I am so glad it came across as tense. Tension in battle chapters is always hard for me to judge. They needed to apologize because they did both make mistakes. Tureden is a good guard. He just needed to adjust his perspective of who Legolas is, which, largely speaking, he has done. Thank you so much for the reviews! I appreciate them so much!

Oh yay. I've been waiting today for this chapter. That was a tense, daring chase scene with everyone trying to trap everyone else. I could feel the bodily strain on people as they crouched and were hit and jumped and caught. Thank goodness Legolas was wearing the mail, but I feel sorry for the redshirts who died. This was a bad moment in the history of the stronghold. I hope Fuilin is brought down. Even if Thranduil finds no extra footprints in the cave, word of its existence and location could have been passed along already. Sigh. I was comforted by the reminder that there were more doors, but still. Tureden and Legolas seem to be coming closer to an understanding, which is good. We'll see what the Elven King has to say about all this. I did like seeing Warrior Thranduil. We don't see that often enough. Author Reply: I swear, in my head anyway, I answered reviews. Sorry! I'm glad it came across as tense. These battle sorts of chapters are always impossible to judge because, of course, I know exactly how it will all play out so it is not tense to me at all. Definitely a bad moment. Warrior Thranduil kicks butt. He makes a lot more appearances in the stories as we get closer to the Watchful Peace, which we are doing. Thank you so much for the reviews, daw! I appreciate them so much!

So they've managed to dispose of a few more, good. However, I can't help but feel you're lulling us into a false sense of security... it can't be so easy to dispose of her servants, can it? Yet another intriguing chapter. Can't wait to see what comes next. Author Reply: Sorry, the holiday weekend messed me up. I would have sworn I had answered these. You know me so well! I am glad you enjoyed and hope you continue to do so! Thank you so much for the reviews. I really appreciate them!
