I finally have the chance to read these. You capture Gandalf very well. My favorites are Unrest and Outlast. The word Precious haunts me also every time I heat it. It is very evocative of the influence of the ring. Outlast gives me a sense of the time span the whole ring story lasts, a sense of history of Middle-Earth.

I tried to respond to these when they were first posted, but my connection to the net was iffy and kept cutting out on me, and it went dead just as I was finishing up my comments, leaving me frustrated! I love how you have found the means to use these words as a catalyst to examine the various facets of Gandalf's character, and find I especially love the last one. After the many worries and griefs and surprises and all of the responsibilities he'd shouldered for over a millenium and a half, how precious this time must have been to actually sit down and think without having to worry about what might be happening somewhere where he might be needed. I look forward to reading the rest, and hope I can get through the next two sets tonight. Author Reply: Hey Larner, Maybe it was the SoA connection. I was having trouble with it two days ago, and Dreamflower mentioned she ran into some trouble connecting with this site, too. Hmmm... Anyway, HUGE thanks for the review! I'm so glad you enjoyed Gandalf, and the last is among my favorites, too. If anyone deserves a rest, it's our wandering wizard!

The computer ate my review, apparently! But oh how I love these, and this concept! You have truly captured Gandalf's personality in each one of these little gems. Author Reply: I had that problem earlier. The computer kept eating some of my replies. Sheesh! Anyway, many thanks for the review, and I'm glad you feel that Gandalf's character has substance given how short these little sentences are!

Great concept, and you pull it off brilliantly as usual. I am so excited to see the other eight members of the fellowship 'defined'. My favorites are 'Veneration', 'Discontent', 'Undulations', and 'Bench'. Excellent! Author Reply: Thank you so much! I'm excited that someone picked out "Discontent" as one of their favorites as that was my absolute favorite. Something about the way Aragorn and Gandalf go head-to-head on the subject of Moria has always fascinated me because I think it takes them both by surprise. And they're both so accustomed to being leaders that when they can't find agreement, it ripples out in strange ways to affect the rest of the Fellowship. Anyway, MANY thanks for the review!

Great to see you back in the saddle, so to speak, Thundera. This is great. Loved "Griping" and "Bench" the best, but most of it is very poignant. You captured Gandalf well. I look forward to reading about the other members of the Fellowship. Author Reply: Thanks so much for the review! "Bench" is one of my favorites, but I like "griping" because it injects some levity into the somber personae of Erestor and Glorfindel. Maybe a bit too much levity, actually, but that's one of my frequent failings. I'm okay with that. :) Thank you again!

I took an online random word generator and created 25 words for every member of the Fellowship. What a challenge to undertake! I'm already enjoying this journey, with "Glitters" and "Bench" being my favorites so far. Author Reply: Unfortunately for me, I only realized partway into this challenge that it amounted to 225 writing prompts. o_O Serves me write for not doing the math ahead of time. Anyway, huge thanks for the review! "Bench" is also one of my favorites. I think Gandalf of all people really needed that rest.
