Author Reply: And I strongly suspect that the boy called Estel found the idea of seeing lands healed most attractive. And I wish I had the skill to produce that picture book! Heh! | |

| What a beatiful birthday gift. Thank you so much. I don't believe a story about the Elessar stone has been written before. Little does Estel know of what the future holds for him and that one day he will be wearing the broach. I always look forward to reading anything you have written. Author Reply: I know it's a bit early, but thought that you'd appreciate it. So glad you do! If it was foretold that Aragorn would one day be known by the name of the stone, how must that have concerned Elrond! And it is nice to add a tale particularly about the Elessar. | “Did you know the Lady Galadriel? Or her daughter?” “Yes.” Ah, the innocent ignorance of this question and what a world of emotion in that one word answer as Estel sees but does not understand. It is interesting that some Elves sensed Sauron's foulness under his fair cloak and others did not. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Considering that Estel did not learn of Arwen's existence until coming across her by chance on the day he learned his true name, heritage, and possible future, I doubt he'd been told why Elrond's wife had left Middle Earth, and probably did not know her name or lineage, either. That Annatar was rebuffed by Gil-galad, Cirdan, and Elrond is canon, and the indications are that they sensed something seriously false in him and refused to consider whatever gifts he thought to offer them. That being true, then why might he have been accepted by Celebrimbor into Eregion? No one knows for certain when Celebrimbor was born, or whether he had been born in Aman or Endore. The Encyclopedia of Arda suggests that he might well have been born, therefore, in Middle Earth, although nowhere does the Master indicate that Curufin had a wife; indeed, after the behavior of Curufin and his brother regarding Luthien I suspect neither one's wife, had either one had one, was present at Nargothrond when Luthien arrived there. So, I've decided to think that he was still quite young when the Noldor left Tirion, and that he accompanied his father and uncles and grandfather on the ships stolen from the Teleri at Alquallonde, and that his mother had forsworn her husband much as Nerdanel had Feanor when the Oath was made. Therefore it is possible that Celebrimbor either might have known Sauron when he was still known primarily as Aulendil, Aule's friend, before his full allegiance to Melkor/Moringotto/Morgoth was made plain; or he was reminded by Annatar of his own visits with the Smith of the Valar when he was young in Aman and somehow Sauron played upon those memories to ingratiate himself with the smiths of Eregion. It's fun to speculate on how he managed to be cozened by the fallen Maia. | |
