| As has proved true throughout, this collection is perfectly rendered. We know that the orcs left the Barrow-knives; that they probably shed the belts with them is what I'd always believed, so Gimli bringing them strikes true in my heart as well as yours. Those belts might be shiny, but they were also Elf-wrought--not a recommendation for plunder to yrch-kind! And the idea of finding Legolas so struck on the shores by Pelargir makes a shiver run up my back, I find. As for the last one--how true! His family has indeed enlarged, even as has that of Legolas. Aragorn has always boasted a mixed family, I believe, so having eight more "brothers" won't disturb his equanamity at all--now he has Faramir in place of Boromir and Eomer perhaps in place of Halbarad--not that any can truly take the place of those who are parted from us in such manner; but his family has ever grown, and will now contain a new empire's worth! | |

| These are all quite lovely and I think as a group altogether, you have saved your best for last--and it makes sense, for I think of all fanwriters you have one of the best grasps of the character and personality of Gimli son of Gloin. | My favorites here are almost so numerous! Insult, Throne, Belt, Winner, Tragedy, Varnish, and Family. And I'm glad someone else remembered those belts! In one of my earliest stories, "Belts of Silver, Leaves of Gold", I made an attempt at clearing up that loose end as well. :) | |

| Ah, Gimil! A Dwarf after me own heart. I sniggered at Bath and shivered at the implications of Throne. And I agree with your reasoning for Belt. Family, of course, shows us just how far Gimli has grown in the course of his adventures with the Fellowship. I've enjoyed all of these prompts, Thundera, and I hope we will see more from you in the very near future. | |
