What a great idea that Frodo had an editor and how startling it must have been to read of Gandalf's fall. Author Reply: Lindelea was the first to indicate that Freddie might have served Frodo in this capacity, and it's a joy to follow her lead in this. But the tale of the battle of the Bridge of Khazad-dum is definitely one of the grimmest episodes in the entire epic! Thanks so, Linda!

... and Fredegar Bolger found himself crying out, “No!” along with Frodo as Gandalf fell. That is what many other readers did, too, I'm quite sure! But after I had read that passage for the very first time, I had somehow the feeling that this could not be the end of Gandalf. It turned out to be right. On the other hand I was completely sure (like Sam) that Shelob had killed Frodo. There I was luckily wrong! Author Reply: I remember feeling devastated when Gandalf fell, as if I'd just lost my favorite teacher and friend! When he reappeared among the eaves of Fangorn Forest I was as surprised and awed as Aragorn and Legolas, I think. But I was certain that somehow that was not the end of Frodo, and I was glad to find I was right! Heh! Thanks so, Andrea!

This was great! I would love to see it continued. Pretty please with mushrooms on it? :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Actually, the idea was originally Lindelea's that Fatty served as Frodo's 'beta reader.' And again, perhaps it will be continued on one day--you never know! Heh!
