| Nice to get a good introduction to the group who will be accompanied by Bilbo. I disapprove of the PJ version of Balin myself, and wish he'd been presented as more royal in nature. I liked him as a person--he just wasn't proper to the one who would claim the rule of Khazad-dum is all. Author Reply: Yes, he's more the children's book version. Which would be all right per se, weren't Thorin and Dwalin not from a completely different category. The WETA book to "The Hobbit" shows a much earlier concept of Balin, where he's magnificent and dignified and wonderful. I used that picture as a template. | |

| Good to see an update on this story. Its definitely a different take on the quest of the Lone Mountain. Looking forward to more of it as well as to your Rohan based story. Thanks as always for your hard work on your writing. Author Reply: The trick is to stay as true to canon as possible and yet make a different story out of it.
