| Beautifully done! And to think it was Boromir who "won the toss" (in a manner of speaking -- I know there really wasn't a coin toss involved) and got to be the one to go to Rivendell... I can see how Faramir would have become Mithrandir's pupil. Bright, inquisitive, and retains what he learns. I'm sure the old wizard would not have called it "pestering" either... I'm reminded of his being peppered with questions from a young and curious hobbit, and responding with "only one..." at least once along the Fellowship's journey. This is a lovely picture of the two brothers. You can see the love between them, and how proud Boromir is of his younger brother. The writing is descriptive and helps me to "see" what they are seeing. Thanks for a lovely breakfast treat! | |

| How lovely to see so many new offerings from you, all at once! You have been busy. I have been following both your own "Lords of Gondor" and Antane's ongoing Boromir in the Undying Lands tale, "Till We Have Faces." This one makes me think of that one. Faramir would indeed have loved being the one who went to Rivendell. But merely by remaining at home, trying to do his duty, the Elves eventually came to him. And even though they became disaffected as Faramir became closer to Mithrandir over the years, there must have been a time when Denethor approved of Faramir's devotion to learning about history and tradition. Boromir assures Faramir that he really was not "pestering" their father. Boromir was always his brother's defender, wasn't he?" | |
