Ah, poor Goldie. For all her adventurousness she's such gentle soul. I think, too, as a middle child, or neat the middle in such a large family, she sometimes feels lost in the crowd and now she's going to have to face a whole year almost without the attention of her parent. It's a good thing that someone is aware of her situation, even if he can't do much about it. I think this is really going to seal Farry and Goldie's relationship. He knows what she's going through, even if he hasn't had similar experiences. He's been through enough to be able to support her. I really think that after this is done, they really can declare those two "off the market", if you know what I mean. :) Sorry I'm not wording things as well as I'd like this morning. Late night, early dawn. Author Reply: You know, I hadn't really thought out that "middle child" part, but you're right. And she really, really misses her Ellie, who seems to understand her best. "Off the market" -- cute! Thanks!

Hmm. Not a good sign, her unwillingness to take part in the planning. Glad Faramir is watching out for her. Author Reply: Nope, not a good sign... Thanks!

Poor Goldi, I would have felt the same way. That truly is a mixed-blessing of news. ‘I’m not so fine at speechmaking as some hobbits you may know – the Mayor comes to mind…’ The young Gamgees cheered for their father. Adorable. I can imagine that so clearly. Author Reply: It is a mixed blessing, indeed! I think the only thing that might have satisfied them would be for their parents to send for them to join them in Gondor. *sigh* What a story *that* would make! Thanks!

Goldi's reaction doesn't bode well. At least she has Farry to watch over her. Glad that they were (mostly) able to alleviate disaster. Author Reply: You're right, it doesn't bode well. You've got to watch the quiet ones... Thanks!
