Interesting rationale for learning to write! Heh! Am so glad that Smaug is not in danger of being forbidden being played with.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Poor Smaug would be lonely if playing with dragons were banned!

This is delightful! When you were a child, did you ever hear..."there are starving children in Africa who would be glad to have that food"? And some of my friends's response would be, "then send this to them"! Our modern world, where, in most developed countries most children can go to school, even if just for a while, is much different from how things once were. Just about anyone will listen when you talk about things they like. I like the way you have Aragorn appeal to what was important to Eldarion. Naneth, I have to learn how to write so they can't ban cakes and dragons! I will be giggling about that all day! I doubt that all of Arwen's hundreds of years of experience have prepared her for the bundle of surprise that a child can be! You have made Eldarion behave just like a real little boy. And, I am sure that after having to wait so long for the chance to become parents, Aragorn and Arwen were very involved in their children's lives. Nicely done.

An hour later, Eldarion entered his mother's solar and proudly showed her his signature in rather shaky but legible characters. "I've got to learn writing so the scribes can't ban cakes and dragons!" he told her.

"Cakes and dragons?" Arwen asked in bewilderment.

"It is a long story, vanimelda," said Aragorn, who had just finished his paperwork and come to join her.

LOL!! Too cute--I love it! Of course, he'll have other reasons for writing when he grows up. =)
