An arranged marriage, and she doesn't even know to whom she's supposed to have as a bride groom? And she mustn't be too familiar with common folk. Not a pleasant prospect.

That's our Sam! :) Love it, love it! He must certainly would have jumped down a dragon's throat. Love Freddy's comment on that. Sam did learn a lot about his 'place' on the Quest - and it was right where he's placed himself since he was 9 - at his Frodo's side, who was master, and became best friend, then brother, then child and neither of them see any reason to change once they are back home. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Well, I suppose this chapter is your answer for me. Rose and Estella are young yet, and when they grow up they'll realize more that staying each in their own places is better for them. The great hobbits take the duty and the responsibility and the common hobbits are happy to serve and it all works. I've read your note following this chapter, as I suggest that you may want to leave these thoughts in the story, in some form or another, for people like me who keep getting stuck on these points (depending, of course, how much Estella features in coming events). Author Reply: I am not sure how much Estella features in coming events. Do you know how hard it is to keep Merry from seeing her for the next five years? Aargh. Me and writing myself into a corner. Thanks for the recommendation. So far the score is "leave in" 3, "take out" 0. I haven't heard from my editor yet, though I've sent her all the latest chapters. Go figure, she says I'm swamping her, and this is too much work for a hobby. She tells me to get a life. (and then she laughs, and tells me to send her more stuff)
