Please continue, you and the other members of your group, to write such stories as have been filling all my leasure time for a while. | A satisfying ending. Thank you for this engrossing tale. I'm very glad that he was reunited with the son who was earlier denied him, and that his family did not turn against him as he feared. In a sense, it's as if he's been absolved of his unwitting guilt, after living with the consequences for so long. Or maybe it is as Eonwë said, that Morgoth's evil was turned to unforeseen good. Author Reply: Morgoth's evil was turned to unforseen good. I felt that Arafinwe needed a happy ending because so much else in his life has been a struggle. | This was certainly a difficult situation for Arafinwë and it's understandable the reactions of his other children to his news about Aicanáro and his love for Faroniel. Still, I think, in the end, they all will be the better for it. I'm sure Finrod will be very friendly toward his half-brother and his family, being who he is. The others might take a little longer to come to acceptance, but they'll get there eventually. Whether Aicanáro and his family ever get used to their status is another story (literally and figuratively speaking). I really enjoyed this, both times, Ellie. You do Arafinwë well and he's a character we don't see much of in fanfics. There really should be more such stories about him, but at least we have yours to enjoy. Thanks for letting me help you with this story. It was fun to discuss what might happen and why and what we should do about it. Author Reply: I agree that Finrod will be among the first to be friendly, but I also think that the youngest daughter will be accepting as well, if for no other reason, than to make her atto happy, because she is very protective of him and very close to him. I very much enjoyed bouncing ideas off of you concerning this story and the ensuing discussions. I hate it took so many years to get this written. Thanks for hanging in there with me! | I used up a lot of Kleenex on this chapter - but those were happy tears, I promise! I did not follow this story from the beginning, I glanced at the chapters from time to time, but I did not get hooked until I had about half the chapters available. Finarfin really hd a sucky life, most of the time, didn't he? His early life was dominated by his eldest brother, who had only scorn for his younger siblings, and his father reserved most of his affection for his remarkable eldest son. And after the Rebellion he was stuck with the Noldorin Crown, and having to repair and heal both his own shattered clan, but also dealing with all the mess the Rebellion had left in the relationships with the other clans. And then he had to go to war - as a commander, no less, having to send people to their deathe. No wonder he needed a bit of a "holiday" for a while. I was relieved when Eärwen forgave him what had happened with Faroniel, and I am certain she is going to make sure that the younger Aikanáro stays a part of the family. Because she knows her husband does need him in order to be happy. And she WILL have a happy husband and a complete family, and if her children and other family have any sense, they will cooperate. Or else. ;-) I'm not sure that Valinor is quite prepared for the concept of a Bastard Prince. So I guess that at least for now the relationship may stay at least somewhat unofficial. But I guess the other Kings at least need to be told (and it might be interesting to be a fly on the wall for those discussions!) OK, I'm off to start reading the story from the beginning again! :-) Author Reply: I am glad the tears were happy ones :-) I am surprised myself that it took as long as it did for Finarfin to crash as he did. He had an awful lot on him for so many years. I know Valinor is not ready for a bastard prince. I might need to write that conversation with the kings finding out about him. That would need to be added to a segment with Galadriel finding out as another reader requested. I will see what I can do, if I can get the muse working on that. | Hi. I am sorry that I have not been reviewing as this story went along. As I am not a writer, I don't always know what to say. I did enjoy the story. It kept me fascinated as to how you would resolve all the issues you kept creating. I am intrigued about the Amanian's side of the Numenorian revolt. Maybe another story??? Author Reply: I am delighted that you kept with the story. I appreciate you taking the time to leave me a few lines now :-) I will have to see what the muse tells me next as far as a story about the Amanian side of the Numenorean revolt. I have started another story, but it has nothing to do with Numenoreans. Given my abysmal track record for multi-chapter stories for the last six years, it will take me a while to get this new story written. I will see if the muse prompts me with your suggestion. | I rejoice that healing at last came in this manner. I grieve for the years lost to them, but am so glad that at last Aicanaro has been brought into the family. And I'd love to know what Artanis Galadriel thought of this change once she returned to the Undying Lands! (Hint, hint!) Author Reply: Three thousand years is a long time to wonder and mourn, but at least they were reunited at last. I admit I have not considered what Galadriel might think of this situation. I might explore this at some point and add it to the end of the story. Thank you for asking about it! This summer has been too difficult for any writing at all, but maybe once I get things sorted once again, I can write Galadriel's meeting with the new family.
