Yes indeed, those two did have much in common! I wonder if they were not only brothers of the soul like Aragorn, Frodo and Sam, but if in another place and time they might have been physical brothers as well..... After all, within the space of a few months they were inseparable. Many thanks for another lovely vignette! :) Author Reply: It is a thought to be pondered, Teresa. So glad that you were inspired to think it! And thanks so!

Poor Gimli to see these ruins. Author Reply: But he is also blessed to do so, I think. And it helps to spark such a close friendship with Legolas. Thank you so!

So begins the great friendship, at least in the heart of the Elf, soon to extend outward... :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: So I've always suspected, Antane! Thanks so.

Marvellous telling of the moment of realisation, going from blind prejudice to recognising parallels to blinding flash of insight into common ground. Beautifully done. Are you in town this week? Author Reply: Thanks so, Lindelea. No, am still at home this week. Plan to come your way next Monday evening after I'm done with my second Monday client. Hug Pandemonium and the cats for me, and love to the children and hubby.

Very nice! They have indeed a lot in common. For Legolas this is only the beginning of a process that will end in a very special friendship. BTW, if you imagine the great halls in Moria with the countless pillars that are supporting the ceiling they might very well be trees in a forest. So, in fact even their homes have similarities although they are "made" of different materials. Author Reply: Realizing just how much there is in common between them appears to have been a difficult process at least at first, but it paid off well in the end for both the Elf and the Dwarf. And I love your comparison between the Elven lands and the Dwarf city. Thanks so!

I enjoy it greatly when the characters realize their similarities offset their differences. Author Reply: There was something in the transition between Moria and Lorien that changed between Gimli and Legolas so that the sniping and distrust between them changed, warming to friendship. I like to think it started here as Legolas began to appreciate that for Gimli this IS his home, his natural element, the focus of his racial memories. Thanks so, Shirebound!
