I love this story. You've filled in the backstory of the rod, and the friendship of two remarkable men, just perfectly. Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm delighted that you enjoyed this.

What a difference between Ecthelion and his son, Denethor! One was ready and eager to embrace the king when he returned, while the other only wanted to cling to power for himself and his descendants. On the other hand, Ecthelion and his future grandson, Faramir, have a lot in common! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. You are so right about Ecthelion and Denethor. The next chapter is about Faramir.

Ecthelion is a wise man. I like the relationship you picture here between Aragorn and him very much. You description of the splendid hall is si vivid. Thank you, Linda. I, too, have seen Ecthelion as recognizing Thorongil as the rightful King while Denethor dreads that this is so. To think of Aragorn having the White Rod offered him twice by two such honorable souls as Ecthelion and Faramir must have meant a good deal to him. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. It seems we think alike about Ecthelion. The next part is about Faramir.
