What a haunting moment. Boromir is such a tragic figure, a good man who's twisted by the Ring, which uses his own best hopes against him. I particularly like the line about traveling the road to death, though no one knows the way. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. You are right about Boromir, he is very tragic.

Thank you, Linda. This was a touching moment that I loved from the books, but actually felt the movies improved on with Boromir recognizing Aragorn as the rightful king. Aragorn's thoughts and remembrances seem realistic given his long sojourn as Thorongil and it was good to see him sorrowing not only for himself but Denethor as well. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I loved this scene in the film too. I hope you had a good birthday and are feeling better. I truly appreciate this lovely website and being able to post my stories here.

You've really captured the flood of conflicting emotions that must have been engulfing Aragorn at this moment, Linda. To lose a member of the Fellowship would be devastating to any of them, but only Aragorn would have been haunted by the vision of the innocent child he once knew, or been fully cognizant of all the ramifications of Boromir's family history. The sense of regret that he missed an opportunity with Boromir is poignant, too. I smiled at the foreshadowing of his friendship with Faramir. A very touching and poignant vignette - thank you. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed this story and feel I captured Aragorn's emotions. I hope Boromir would be happy that Aragorn gave Faramir the honour he deserved.

Poor Boromir. His intentions were good, but he always seemed to lack the vision of his brother. The whole age thing is odd, isn't it? Aragorn knew Boromir as a child. The elves knew Aragorn's many times great grandfathers. Aragorn will outlive pretty much all those living in Minas Tirith when he becomes king. Makes your head hurt! Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I think Boromir was proud and Faramir humble. It is all very complicated with lifespans like they had in LOTR!

As Ecthelion now welcomed Boromir beyond the circles of the world, what must he think of his trusted Captain Thorongil, who had led Ecthelion’s beloved grandson to his doom? Oh my, what a burden for Aragorn to carry. *sniff* Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. It is a burden indeed.
