| His face was soft with an emotion she’d read of, heard of, but had rarely enough seen, and then only in the face of Frodo Baggins—compassion. Wonderfully done! Lobelia must have felt shocked and even ashamed about the compassion the other hobbits showed her. But I think the moment she can accept and even appreciate that feeling of the others towards her, she will be able to give it back to them as well. And then redemption will be complete. | we felt as you deserved the best as we have. Lobelia probably truly couldn't believe her ears. You beautifully open our eyes and hearts to this turning point in Lobelia's life. How wonderful that she redeemed herself before the end... inspired by neighbors and loved ones she would have rarely appreciated before. Author Reply: I agree.
