| This was hilarious Daw, the banter among the three of them is priceless...Ithilden won`t lose his composure, adn Eilian won`t miss a chance of ribbing him and then he falls into the pit as well....a comedic jewel, with the counterpoint of how sinnarn's death affected them. Lovely, thanks! Author Reply: Poor Ithilden. And yet, he survives it all with his confidence intact. At least on the surface. I guess underneath he's fighting off some fear and guilt. | |

| I was coming to your page here to reread some stories, as I do from time to time because I love them so much, and I nearly screamed with excitement when I saw this story and realized that 1)its a recently new one you wrote and 2) I hadn't read it yet! (Which makes me sad because it means its been that long since I've reread anything you wrote) So needless to say, I was so completely THRILLED to read another story of yours with these wonderful characters! And it was such a cute little read! I loved the line in the first chapter about Ithiliden being surprised by the treachery of the world. Because of course the world would be against him personally! I love the mischeviousness of Eilian and Legolas and the general lighthearted feel to this little story. Still trying to process my thoughts but thank you so much for writing! I know you've said before that you feel like you've said all you've had to say on these characters but if at anytime you want to write more I will always be in line to read them! Also congrats on publishing your book- thats so exciting! | |

| I knew you weren't going to name the baby! I actually kind of thought the story would cut off before the birth so you could avoid the whole thing all together. This was great to see though I really, really hope that Ithilden does let her go more than a league from the strong hold. As I recall, Ithilden had to learn to deal with his son being different from him so I suspect that even if unnamed daughter is a sweet child, he will still have to learn how to deal with her being different (and less cooperative) than his wife. So, if your loyal readers name the baby, will we get any Uncle Legolas and his nieces fanfic? Like maybe he takes them camping? Or they have a tea party? Or he has to rescue unnamed baby from Loriel leading her off into trouble? In my head, Alfirin and Ithilden name her Aerlinn or Glirwen or something like that for song (since they named their son "story"). I'm so glad I came and checked the website today and saw this up! Thank you so much for writing it. I love when you come back and play with these characters because your OCs mean as much to me as many of Tolkien's own characters. These stories are beloved to me in the same way that my Tamora Pierce books are in that they were my teenaged hero stories during my teen years. Author Reply: I really like Aerlinn as a name but I think I already used it. I'd have to look to be sure, but I think that when the little boys throw mud and snowballs, it's at Miriwen and Aerlinn. And then, Tonduil marries her. I think. But you have a good sense of how I picture this little girl. I think she'll be sweet and fairly docile, but maybe have a stubborn streak. And I strongly suspect that Ithilden will occasionally wonder if she should be allowed to play with Loriel. LOL So I picture this little scene in which both girls are beginning to hang out with boys. They're at a party on the Green, and boys ask them to go somewhere and Loriel says let's ask my Naneth. And Unnamed Girl says Your Naneth? We always ask your Adar. And Loriel says Not this time. Sadly that's not enough to make a story. I'm waiting for editorial feedback at the moment and so I'm not writing, which is making me restless, so I wish I had a story, but not yet. | I have been rereading Larrkin's stories, and now that I have finished those, I went looking for more elves. I haven't been to SoA in a long time. I was so thrilled to see your name with a new story! I found your stories years ago and have read and reread them many times. I love your elves, and their interactions and sense of family, even in times of stress. I hope (selfishly) that you can continue to write about this family... ! Congrats on the published novel! Author Reply: Thank you, Lmw. I had a good time being with these characters again. I spent so much time with them in my head that they feel real to me. My beta once told me that my stories were really about family, and I think she's right. I hope to write more about them. I just need to get the time and creative energy. Also, thank you for the congrats. I think of the novel's characters as young Eilian and Ithilden born into a different world. That made them much easier to write. | |

| Thank you Daw, Have been away so lovely to read the ending. I do so enjoy reading about the three brothers - as adults they are even closer. I went back and read all your other stories after reading the first chapter of this one. Thank you for the creativity and emotion you have put in to your tales. Author Reply: Thanks, Noor. As you probably know, I've been working on original fic, and I keep reminding myself that it's the emotion that matters. Action is good, and plot is necessary, but none of that matters unless the characters (and, I hope, the readers) feel something. Hope your time away was for something pleasant. daw | |

| Is it mean to hope that Ada's little girl gives him as much trouble as Ada's now-unfortunately-deceased son did? I suspect he'll find it much harder to deal with, too. Pouts and eyelashes and whines of 'but, Adaaaaaaa ...' I think Eilian and Legolas enjoyed Ithilden's troubles. Perhaps a little more than they should have shown. But Sera! What an irritating little madam. Born to convince elves that that should keep their distance from Men. What a fun tale. I'll keep my fingers crossed for more. Author Reply: Ada's now-unfortunately-deceased son Luckily for me, he didn't stay deceased, thanks to you, Bodkin! Eilian and Legolas do enjoy seeing Ithilden losing control of things. Why not? I would. I'd keep my mouth shut though. Sera is not someone I'd want around, mostly because she's so determined to put herself in an unhappy situation. But then, people do that. You look at them and you think, That's not going to work. But they can't seem to hear you when you say that. I guess some folks do have to learn for themselves. Glad you liked it, Bodkin. | |

| Lovely ending, but you have to write another story now. You didn't tell us the new baby's name! Author Reply: You know, it's odd, but I find it really hard to give characters their names. If I were writing a story set in our world, I guess I could use the phone book or something, but in Tolkien, it gets really hard to create a name that feels right but is easy for the reader to pronounce and remember. All of which is a long way to say, I don't know the baby's name! I'm glad you liked it. daw | |

| I did read this! But then I got distracted by 'Finders Keepers' arriving in the post :-) Still, I can't stay away from Ithilden too long... I really like the subtle undertone in the conversation between Eilian and Legolas of what this birth means. And who's missing. Poor Sinnarn. Have you stopped feeling guilty about him yet? :-D Anyway, I'm still grinning at what Legolas and Eilian must have thought when they discovered what was going on. Obviously there was no real danger if Ithilden was exasperated. I always enjoy it when Eilian risks treating older brother as just that - a brother. To be teased. Of course, he was asking for it then when he ended up sprawled in the hole with them. I did have a moment where I thought Legolas would be joining them and we'd have to wait for Beliond and Maltanaur... A troll! Seriously? This is not a good day. I enjoyed the action and Sera putting her difficult stage to good use to clobber the troll. I wasn't actually expecting gold. Hmm. But then neither, it seems, was Fodor. I suspect he's spent a lot of his life frustrated by his daughter and has many more years of it. What a gorgeous, gorgeous ending. "Little one," he whispered, "daughter, I promise you I will protect you always." Ah, that made me teary. Lovely story, daw. Enjoy your trip. Author Reply: When I think about Sinnarn, I do feel kind of bad. It's not like I intended to kill him from the start, but now when I go back and look at the stories set earlier, his death changes how I read what I wrote. Very odd. Sera is a pretty unlikeable character, but I felt sorry for her though not as sorry as I did for her father. Still it was enjoyable to have her be the one to clobber the troll. I like characters with more than one side. Ithilden's daughter will be not quite an adult at the time of the Ring War. He'll be out of his mind worrying about her. :-) I'm running around trying to get things done. I have my kindle fully charged and just learned the cab fare from the Hamburg airport to the port, so I'm getting there. As always, thanks for the kind review. | |
