| How utterly charming! I think you've perfectly captured the responses of two children who, given their place in society, are quite sophisticated and "worldly" (and therefore not intimidated by all the spectacle or overawed by legendary creatures) but are, after all, still children (and therefore excited out of their minds and not quite willing to admit that they might not be *quite* as adventurous as they'd like to seem). I also love the banter between the siblings: I can definitely imagine having a very similar conversation with my brother when we were kids! Author Reply: Thanks quodamat! Yes, I'm not entirely sure if they are genuinely concerned for the animal's welfare or just chickening out;) It could be a bit of both. I'm thinking of making a follow-up chapter but not sure yet.
