An as well unique as wonderful concept of a disguised female queens guard. I loved the idea of her grandfather Celeborn to be the one to prompt its implementation in the first place. And again you come back to already known and dear characters. What I perceived as a most welcome turn is the fact that the main idea behind it is not so much the queens safety alone as it is meant to be balm to the kings soul.

That is a great idea to get a secret guard in plain view. I don't think the citizens of Minas Tirith would think of something like this. Author Reply: Thanks! It seemed like something Celeborn would devise. Clever, clever Elda.

Ah, the perfect appearance for a needed, secret guard! Wonderful idea indeed! And such a relief for Aragorn to know his beloved bride is so guarded when they must be apart. Author Reply: Good ol' Celeborn: he always knows how to give Aragorn a little peace of mind. I'm glad you liked the idea!

Once again, a lovely collection of stories. I'm so glad you decided to write these appendices! I'm sorry to hear about Aithron's misfortune, though; 'tis a sad twist of fate for such a captain to be brought so low. Regardless, I am immensely enjoying these tales; I really liked the previous chapter, with the Beornings and Kvigir's reaction upon learning he had turned away the future king! Can't wait to hear more - do you have an idea of how many appendices you will ultimately write? I hope you'll post one about Faramir too; I'd like to see him learn that the mysterious stranger who escaped the orcs in Ithilien was none other than Aragorn. Best wishes! Author Reply: Alas, yes. Victory comes at a cost, and Aithron paid a painful part of it. I'm so glad you're enjoying these: they're lovely fun to write. I don't have a total number, but YES, there will be a piece about Faramir. That was actually the original seed of the concept!

I love the idea of a Queen's Guard! I was grinning from ear to ear when Celeborn suggested it. The adventures of the companions would be an amazing tale! It must be such a relief to both Aragorn and Elrond, and it is wonderful that Arwen would have some of her kin around. When they finally take the Staright Road, they will have much to tell Celebian and Elrond of their lives. I loved the mention of how close they were sitting! Their bliss and joy is so well conveyed! Author Reply: I'm delighted to know you like the idea! Don't tempt the muse, though: she's trouble! ;-) You know, I never considered that these ladies would of COURSE bring tales of Elessar and Undómiel back to Elrond! Wow. I may just have to write some Companions stories after all.

I just love this! What a great idea of Celeborn. I am pleased to see Calmiel again as well. Thank you. Author Reply: Thank you! I love Celeborn, and this is just the sort of thing he would do. He always does seem to know what will ease Aragorn's mind.

OMG! OMG! OMG! (x infinity). The best best best story because you wrote about my most favorite Noldor elf of all! I am going to faint soon... Hannon le mellon nin for this story. Wow.... you really know how to spring a surprise! Love love the idea of the Queen's personal Guard. I am speechless now. :D Author Reply: *grin* Oh, I'm glad you like it! High praise indeed for Captain Calmiel. Thank you!

How wise of Celeborn to hide guards in silk gowns! Most likely no one in Gondor or the surrounding realms will recognise the elves for what they truly are, except perhaps Faramir and Eowyn (the latter as she will be in almost the same position herself). I think this will make everyone feel easier about leaving Arwen to Gondor. However, the guards might need a refresher course in gentler arts to be taken seriously as handmaids. I'm sorry to see what happened to Aithron. The victory against Dol Guldur clearly didn't come easily, and I hope that Aithron didn't have to be a captive for a long time. And now I am going to hunt for Lathil in your stories. The name is almost familiar, but I'm still not sure if I have seen it before. Author Reply: Yes, I'm sure Éowyn would recognise the ladies for what they are. And I'm sure the King and Queen would confide in their Steward. Alas, not all stories have a happy ending in war. Aithron bore a part of that cost. Lathil's knew. Lethril was one of Aragorn's healers in Mirkwood. ;-)

The return of Calmiel was perfect. That would have been such a gift to Aragorn. He always is so protective of those he loves ad I am sure he would have felt so much more assured if he had some elves that he knew he could count on to surround his beloved. Arwen also won't have to be alone in new place with all new people. It was a perfect. I also couldn't help but smile about the newly wed couple sitting as close as possible to each other. They have had to keep a respectful distance for so long, that they can't seen to get enough of each other now. Author Reply: Thank you so much! Of course, Arwen would have an escort from among the Guards of the Citadel, too, but this extra assurance would surely bring Aragorn such peace of mind. So sweet that you noticed how they were sitting! :-)
