| It's good they are parting on good terms - Legolas hearing 'my beloved' from his father. It cannot be easy for either of them, but now it is out and they will be able to go their separate ways. And I assume the Elvenking will follow his son and they will see each other again. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Indeed, Antane. | It is so easy to feel sorry for Thranduil in this story. He would do nearly anything to bring Legolas back home, but there is nothing he could do. I hope he will follow Legolas one day, so that their relationship won't end in grief like this. Author Reply: Apparently Legolas's mother had been gone from Middle Earth for years, and I am certain Thranduil would wish his son to at least know he has family ready to embrace him in Valinor, if he must leave the hither shore. There is grief in this parting, even as Elrond grieved to leave Arwen in Aragorn's embrace, knowing she will not be restored to him as long as Arda remains. But there is always the hope that when and if he sails, he will find both his wife and this son awaiting him in the West. Thanks so. | |
