What a wicked, vile creature your Smaug is! How depraved! How corrupt! Excellent story :) Author Reply: My apologies for keeping you waiting! I'm usually more timely in replying to comments... Smaug *is* a wicked creature, isn't he? It's a little worrying that I had so much fun writing him, lol, though I've since given some thought to the possibility that the monstrous character of dragons is as much a product of nurture as it is nature, like most other intelligent life. Anyways, really appreciate the kind review!

Beautiful! I love the death scene for Smaug! Author Reply: First, sorry about the delay in my reply. Real Life has been rather hectic of late. Thank you for reading! I'm very pleased you liked my portrayal of Smaug's death, certainly one of the highlights of the book and films both. The story ends a bit abruptly--a jarring stop that I hope is fitting, though unintentional on my part. Thanks again!

Ooh, perfect for movie-verse! And with but little change it could fit book-verse as well. Love the realization that he'd been flat bored for all this time, that he WANTED a worthy opponent. Well told! Author Reply: Writing about Smaug and Bard is easier in the movie-verse, IMO, because they actually interact, aside from the killing blow, which I don't believe is the case in the book. Kind of makes me feel sorry for book!Smaug, who's (more or less) minding his own dragon business, having a ball toasting Laketown, when out of nowhere comes this improbably well-aimed black arrow. Like a jumbo jet being sideswiped by a flying pig, lol. That said, I just couldn't pass up the epicness that is the War of Wrath, really the heyday of dragons. What creature bred to rain destruction down upon Morgoth's foes at the head of the Dark Lord's armies wouldn't miss it, a little, enough perhaps to be drawn from more lazy napping on a mountain of gold--this is exactly what Gandalf feared. Anyways, appreciate the comment! Glad you enjoyed reading!

That's beautifully written, and the title is just perfect. Author Reply: Thanks so much for reading! I'm pretty proud of the title, actually, since it took me a while to come up with a fitting one. Besides the black arrow to the heart, it's meant to be an allusion to the old adage that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. A little dark humor on my part, given Smaug's, well, monstrous appetites.

Woh thats was some interesting story! A creepy and perverted insight in Smaugs mind. I guess this even passes my own expectations of his cruelty when I saw him in the hobbit film.Despite these horrifying facts and your very descriptive story hes one of my favourite characters from the movie. He posesses ( thats what persons like Smaug does- Possess!) a dark humour and comic side like many fictive villains do.Tonight I watched Star Wars- yes there are Vader and indeed the even more evil emperor Palpatin who has many traits in common with your Smaug. Both the emperor and Smaug describes things they foresee or desire with unmistakeable voices impossible to forget. Many times have I mimmicked the emperor for some reason in jokes where I see it fit. But maybe I did the mishap of reading your story in bed before going to sleep muahahaha😱😂😖! Aaaaarrrrh Smaug the terrible may visit my dreams this night! Good writing ! Author Reply: Hey, a fellow Star Wars fan! Excited for /The Force Awakens/ later (holy cow) this week? I sure am! :D Ol' Palpidious is way worse than Smaug, IMO, by several orders of magnitude. He's more like Sauron or, I suppose, Morgoth, since he is the Bigger Bad of the GFFA: a corrupting influence that manipulates everything from behind the scenes and only occasionally dirties his own hands; Frankenstein, not Frankenstein's monster. The Sith in general really love hitting the crazy juice, i.e. the dark side, hard. I mean, Smaug at least has some sense of loyalty to his kind, whereas even without the Jedi, the Sith would happily backstab each other unto extinction in their single-minded pursuit of ultimate power. That's a whole 'nother level of self-perpetuating self-delusion, lol. Case in point, Vader. (What were you thinking, Anakin?!) Anyways, I'm rather fond of Smaug myself. He's a lot of fun to write, because you don't have to worry about going too melodramatic with a character that's all the Bond villains rolled into one with a bit of Hannibal Lecter thrown in on top, lol. Pleased to hear Smaug in this story left an impression on you! Thanks for reading and commenting! And sweet dreams! XD
