They should have known not to leave Pippin alone! :) Clueless about the nun but love how he covered the sound of the stool and that he enjoyed himself so much. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Sister Monica Joan is from "Call the Midwife," a BBC production. She was born in an aristocratic household, and was disinherited when she chose to serve as an Army nurse and then joined a convent community dedicated to midwifery. She adores sweets, and would have adored Bilbo's larders! Who better for Pippin to find there? Heh! Thanks so!

Hmmmmm. Someone from our world in Hobbiton. Very interesting indeed. Author Reply: She would have adored Bilbo's larder, I suspect. Heh! Thanks, Tari, and hope you enjoyed it!

Larner, I was up until 1.00 a.m. yesterday morning and it is all your fault, I was binge watching Call the Midwife on Youtube to find out just who Sister Monica Joan was, you are so right, she and Pippen would have made an awesome team when it came to pillaging pantries! What a delightful crossover. There were a couple of nuns in the original story who were just as dotty as Monica Joan, they would have fit right in! Lynda Author Reply: Oh, I agree that Sister Monica Joan wasn't alone in being an eccentric in Mrs. Worth's original memoirs. I love both the real person and the BBC version. (I have the series in audio format, and listened to them while commuting to and from work. What a wonderful set of memories to have!) And who better to appreciate a Hobbit's larder than Sister Monica Joan? Heh!

This was FANTASTIC, Larner! I always look forward to your updates, and hope we eventually get to have that tea together I missed a while back! You now have me wanting to watch Call the Midwife finally - but I have to get a PAL-playing viewer! (I have them in PAL format) Tracey Claybon, in Bellevue (AKA Teresa Greenfalcon) Author Reply: Thanks so, Tracey! I may make my way your direction perhaps next week on Tuesday or Wednesday, if you wish to meet after your done for the day with your new job. Congratulations! I have all five seasons in DVD format, so get to watch them pretty much whenever I wish, although I don't get to see them as they're aired on PBS as I don't have television reception here. And it was fun to put two of the characters I love most possessed of a sweet tooth together in this story. Thanks so much!

So delightful! Shiremom absolutely adores "Midwife", so I'll print this out for her to read. Pippin will ponder this mystery all his life, no doubt. Author Reply: I can't think of two individuals more likely to such mischief than Sister Monica Joan and a young Peregrin Took, really. Let me know how Shiremom likes it! Glad it gave you a giggle!
