Oops indeed! The lust for the Ring was greater than the fear of the Master's curse. So, even the Ring Itself underestimated Its own impact on Its bearers. Author Reply: How right you are, Andrea! Thanks so!

Very interesting. The ring with a mind. I love it. Author Reply: Well, as Tolkien describes the Ring as seeking to escape Gollum, and indicates that the Rings of Power all take care of themselves, it appears they all have minds of sorts, with the Ring Itself having the most developed will of them all. Glad you like it! Thanks, Tari!

*snort* Oops is right. Ah, the best laid plans... :-P Thanks for writing! Author Reply: The Ring doesn't appear to have realized that slipping off of Isildur's finger would leave it at the bottom of the river for 1500 years, roughly speaking (or is it 2500? I need some sleep and to look it up in the book, of course!), with no hope of escape until a struggling Deagol saw something glinting in the mud and thought to check it out before he surfaced in the Anduin. It doesn't appear to have learned from Its mistakes! Heh! Thanks, Pam!

Oops indeed! Wonderful little tale. Great to see you back. Author Reply: Oh, I've been here--just not writing as fast as I used to. Thanks! I do thing "oops" says it all! Heh!

Too funny! Very well written. Thank you. Author Reply: This idea has been working at me for a week, and it was a joy to write it and see the story flow as quickly as it did. Thanks so, Elentarri!

This is delightfully brilliant Larner. And truly insightful as usual. Loved it and I laughed out loud at the last word! Author Reply: Gollum, Bilbo, and Frodo must have frustrated the Ring SOOOO much, not being willing to leave their comfort zones and all. And that final word seemed so--logical! Delighted you love it! Thanks so, Harrowcat.

I really enjoyed this version of events from the Ring's POV! A great story Author Reply: Well, finding it was falling into the volcano along WITH Gollum must have been something It hadn't anticipated or thought through. Thanks so, Linda. Love to the kitties!

I appreciate this POV. But the best laid plans of even Rings of Power oft come to ruin! Nicely done. Author Reply: And we rejoice that it did this time! Thank you!
