| I'm so glad Estel seems to be on the right track to get home again. Thanks to the kindness of hobbits! I'm also wondering, did his family notice he was gone right away, or think he was extremely good at hiding for a day or two? Either way they must be going crazy by now. Author Reply: Love those Hobbits! :-) But I'm sure Estel can find some more trouble before he makes it home. ;-) There will definitely be a couple of chapters that cover how things went in the homefront, never fear -- just not quite there yet.... | It feels like Estel has turned a corner and entered the next phase of his adventure. I'm glad Ferrier has someone to help him too. Elrond and the rest of his family must be frantic though. Author Reply: I think it's definitely safe to say that Elrond and company are flipping right out by this point... This definitely was mostly a wrap-some-things-up, get-Estel-off-in-a-different-direction transition chapter. Not sure I'm terribly crazy about how it turned out (except for the walking song -- I was grinning like crazy the whole time I was concocting that), but he's off now, and that's what matters! | I can certainly appreciate why he doesn't want to see Ferrier again, but am glad he does accept he's being a bit cowardly perhaps. Love the walking song Cres sings! Certainly appropriate to a Hobbit from the Breelands. Author Reply: I think that if any of his family had actually been there, he probably would have. On his own ... at twelve years old, I think it's hard to guess how he'll react to any bit of this situation at any given time (I certainly didn't realize he was going to get so upset about Ferrier's arm, but all of a sudden... :-P) Maybe he'll get another chance... I'm glad you liked the song, I had fun with it... :-) Thanks for reading and commenting! | |

| I like your traveling song. :) we know what it is to lose so much and be all that’s left. He’ll find all the help he needs with us, never fear. What a relief for Estel, and it will be to Ferrier as well, I suspect. Your story is going along at a very nice pace. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad to hear it -- its a bit different from other things I've written, and it's hard for me to tell sometimes. Being a bit of a transition chapter, I wasn't quite sure how this would come out (and to be honest, I'm still not quite sure... :-P)...but Estel is definitely on the way to the next phase of his travels. He is glad Ferrier was able to get the help he needs, and also glad for some separation from him -- I think his feelings about Ferrier will always be a little ambivalent... I had so much fun writing that little song. :-) Thanks for reading and commenting! | |
