| Just when things seemed to be going in the right direction...now Estel falls into a ravine. I wonder what Dorhaur will think when he gets back from his watch... And oh, where oh where are those much adored brothers of his? It makes for a really good story, but I do pity poor young Estel... Author Reply: Dorhaur is probably just bemused by the entire encounter ... 'what now?' They're coming! To be fair, he's not making it easy on them with all the moving around. Still, they're definitely moving faster than he is... And yes, I suspect Estel will be happy sticking pretty close to the House and his family for a while after this. | Not a fun outing, I must say. Sleepwalking can be tiresome--I used to do it as a child, although my usual route was from my bed, down the stairs, and through dining room and kitchen to the bathroom, then back to bed. If Mom hadn't seen me do it countless times I would never have known. But, sleeprunning? Now, that takes talent! Heh! But he ought to have left signs Dorhaur can follow. Love the comment about how Dorhaur hopes his younger siblings praise him behind his back as much as Estel does his brothers. If he only knew who those brothers were.... Author Reply: I haven't actually sleepwalked, but my niece has. When she was at camp she actually left their cabin -- luckily someone heard the door close and went after her. Wouldn't be fun to run into any raccoons or skunks or any other nocturnal critters while asleep, or trip over a rock ... or fall into a ravine. Oh yes, no covering his tracks here. | Goodness, this lad does need looking after, and no mistake! I hope his longed-for reunion with loved ones (any of this loved ones!) comes soon, before he loses hope or gets more lost! Author Reply: By this point, the poor kid is just kind of getting swept along with events as they happen ... His people are hard on his trail, never fear. He keeps moving around on them, though, he's not making it terribly easy ... :-P Thanks for reading and commenting! | |

| You know, there's a really nice sense of reality to this--a dense weaving of detail in setting and character insight and reaction. The stuff about the rabbit hunt added to my trust that this woods and this boy were real. He fits into his world. I used to love doing research on things like archery. My beta had to restrain me from dumping every little interesting fact I learned into the story. Hm. So was the dream just random? Or are the twins really in Archet? I can't remember where Estel tried to leave a message to say he'd be. I'll have to go back and look. daw Author Reply: Thanks so much. It's funny you say that -- this chapter (and especially that part) was very concrete in my mind. I could see it and hear it. It was very peaceful for me, too ... before the wacked-out dream kicked in. I knew there was going to be a dream, but I honestly didn't know it would be like that until it got going, and I knew Estel was going to sleepwalk, but the falling into the ravine thing was a bit of a surprise ... :-P Thanks for reading and commenting! | |

| Perhaps the captain was called away unexpectedly by his friends the Sons of Elrond to help locate their lost charge? Heh. I enjoyed Estel taking the opportunity to show off his hunting skills. And a good meal to boot. But oh dear, now he finds himself in another predicament...
