| If I were Jennifer I would definitely use my phone to get some gorgeous pictures of Rivendell. I feel naked without my watch too. I'm from Oregon and laughed out loud at Boromir's flub of the name. It's interesting that last names are not used in Gondor. I guess we have hobbits to thank for last names. It makes it so much easier to keep track of who is who than just using where people are from. Thanks, atealgirl Author Reply: Jen and Kevin are like most modern teens, very dependent on their devices; and they do want "proof" to show their parents. Names are quite important in M-e. I have a whole essay about that in Dreamflower's Musing--at least on the hobbit side of things. But naming traditions are very different in the past, or even in other countries in our own times. Only the men of Bree and the Hobbits of the Shire use the kind of surnames we are used to; and they do not have middle names. | Okay NOW I'm hungry. I don't know that I could have the onion soup, since I react badly to certain onions, but I would cautiously say that I might be able to since "the rawness is steamed out of it" and that might mean the sulfenic acid is all gone. Anyway, I'm very glad the children enjoyed the feast! It made me think of the SCA Mists Bardic feast I went to a couple years ago. And now they've met Boromir and Legolas! "Or Egon" LOL, so funny. If only it could be "Or Eglon", lol, "eglon" is a name for the Noldor! Oh well. :D Love it! Author Reply: LOL! That would be interesting, huh? =) At any rate, the children are having to adjust to certain things that they've never had to deal with in their own world, including foods. | |

| I love this type of story. The children especially Kaylee sound very authentic. It must throw Elrond and Gandalf for a loop that here are these children that know something, but nothing really helpful. Can't wait to see where you take the story. Author Reply: Thanks! And yeah, you can be sure that Elrond and Gandalf don't know what to make of the fact that the children learned a little about Middle-earth back in their own world! =) | |

| Lovely story and I really enjoyed this chapter. interesting perspective coming from children and love that they brought their dog. I too wonder if they fell down the rabbit hole for a specific purpose. can't wait to see what happens next. Author Reply: Keep reading, and you'll find out! =) I wanted a different take on the "modern-day-person-falls-into-Middle-earth" scenario. The story of the young woman who winds up entering that world has been done pretty much to death, to my thinking. But since I love children anyway, I've done a lot of thinking about what would happen if a group of children and their dog (or, in this case, puppy) found themselves there, and the result is this story! | |
