Using how much of their books they read is a good way to show passage of time. I imagine that finding a story they don't actually know would be very refreshing for an Elf considering how many years they have lived and how few things are new to them. I like how you have a normal dream (or is it?) for Jennifer, showing that not all dreams are prophetic or important. I think it's a good thing that they are memorizing verses to hide God's Word in their hearts especially considering they might be in situations where they won't have access to their Bibles and need to be reminded of God's truth. Kaylee will not be happy when she finds out she's going to be left in Rivendell without her siblings. I am very interested to see what will happen in Rivendell while the Fellowship is away. Tolkien vaguely mentions something about a siege but I haven't found many fanfics about that time. Thanks, atealgirl Author Reply: Yes, it is a good way to show how time is passing at Rivendell, isn't it? And true, Jennifer continues to have normal dreams even in Middle-earth. Yes, they will definitely need God's Word hidden in their hearts when the time comes that they'll need it! Keep reading, and you'll see how Kaylee fares in her siblings' absence whenever we cut back to Rivendell. K.G. Author Reply: Yes, it is sometimes hard to show time-skips. It is always too enticing to show every single detail of every single day, so time-skips are necessary for those times when not much is really happening. You will see that we have covered some of Kaylee's time in Rivendell, even after her sibs leave. DF

I agree--Kaylee is likely to be most unhappy. And I hope those Bible verses do indeed come in handy. Author Reply: Yeah, you're not kidding! And the Bible verses will help considerably.

Ooooh. Poor Jennifer, having to deal with THAT. *hugs her* At least Arwen knows what to do! (And maybe Arwen will give her a supply of that herb for the journey, when they find out they're going!) And Kaylee has to stay behind - well, that's fair, she is only little, but I wonder what her part to play in Imladris will be! Hopefully she'll keep Lucy with her, at least. I love this story so, so very much! *hugs KathyG and Dreamflower* Author Reply: Thank you! Dreamflower and I are glad that you're enjoying it. And yeah, it's fortunate that Jennifer has Arwen to help her with that.

I like the way the children go about explaining the unexplainable. They know enough about how to use their stuff, but not how it works. This is a concept that the elves and hobbits probably don't quite understand. They all know how their day to day stuff is made for the most part. Author Reply: Yeah, I reckon! It's probably hard for the elves to understand how someone could know how to use something, but not know how it works or how it's made.

What a new and heavy responsibility for Elrond, one of so many. One of the many surprises the children's family will get when they return is seeing Lucy's Elf-trained manners! Author Reply: Yeah, you're not kidding! =)
