“Yes, Tungol, that book precisely!” “I haven’t seen it for a long time.” LOL!! That rings so true -- I can hear it. I have heard it in my own family! Ah, this is great. Unfortunately for Faelivrin, it quickly became clear that casting Leoflic as Beren did nothing to advance her creative vision. In fact, her preferred storyline—“Lúthien guides her hapless beloved through the wastes with consummate Elven grace”—had devolved precipitously into “Beren and Huan frolic incongruously through enemy territory while an increasingly huffy Elf-maiden looks on.” OH LORD!! This is just too true! Who didn't have a friend (or was one) who had a definite way of playing a role and if it varied...heaven help you! I am laughing so hard. “But . . . what did she think the game was for?” Leoflic asked. Tungol shook his head sorrowfully. “She never likes the good parts.” Dying of laughter here. *wipes eyes* This is just spot on for kiddos. You have a very good ear for dialogue! These kids are great! Loving this story so much... Author Reply: Thanks, again! I had a blast writing the "let's play Beren and Luthien" scene. It was fun thinking about how such a grand story would filter down to the under-10 set. I'm sure my little brother would tell you that I was usually in the Faelivrin role, telling him how to play pretend...and he'd be pretty much right! But I also empathize with Tungol here: it's always more fun to play the animal part. :) | |
