A good and proper question to ponder as he rests. Ferdi at least has walls about him, and hopefully fur to comfort him somewhat. But it would be perilous to try to extricate him in the dark. Author Reply: Yes, the walls and the depth of the pit would protect him from all the other dogs in the pack, but getting out would be a problem, especially (as you noted) in the dark. Thanks!

Poor Farry! This "adventure" is really not turning out at all like he had wanted it too. But this might prove to be the making of Farry as I hope he can successfully navigate his way around! Hope you are keeping well! MM Author Reply: Quite often adventures turn out much different than we imagine them beforehand. (I should imagine Pippin experienced this feeling on the Quest, considering how young he was at the time. Now that's an interesting thought to contemplate.) You have something there: Our experiences do help to shape us. I have shown Faramir as a competent Thain in later stories, and this story is giving glimpses into how he became that way (and into some of the input from his mentors. Mentors have been so important in my life). So far, so good. Thanks for taking the time to leave an encouraging word!
