| Aww. Eomer the mother hen. The horse figures! I collected horses in my younger years. My horses and my books were my treasures. Aww. Eomer speaking his heart, and his sister’s wise and empathetic answer... Loved this! (p.s. I have always respected Faramir-of-the-book... “Not even if I found it lying by the wayside” or something to that effect. I’m glad Eomer approves. And now I would love to see a conversation between him and Eomer about this. Or anything else, really. What fun!) Author Reply: Lindelea! I took my cues from both the book and the film. How in the book he speaks about his distress at not noticing Eowyn's distress and depression and that scene on the battlefield on the Pelennor Fields when Eomer finds Eowyn. That scene just rips my heart out. His emotions and inability at first to express them lead to his impression of a mother hen! :-) Eomer strikes me as a tough guy, manly man but does have a heart as you seen in "A Light in Midwinter." He has deep emotions that are not always expressed. I admit that Karl Urban's wonderful portrayal does really color my view of Eomer. I had many friends who had the horse statues and the books I know how much they loved them. And also what else would Rohirrim children play with. This is just the first chapter of another many chaptered story that I have started to write so a conversation between the two might just happen! Thanks for writing and encouraging! MM | |
