| Awww. I have to admit, I have read this several times over the past few days. Such a lovely chapter! I like Eomer's understanding, his discerning of Faramir's distraction and, instead of being annoyed, he helps Faramir deal with his strong but tender emotions by injecting some humour and gently pulling Faramir back into the here and now with an eminently practical suggestion. And I love Faramir's memory of the cliff-climbing incident. O yes, those pesky little tagalong sisters (been there, done that, worn out the t-shirt)... and Faramir understanding and talking to his little cousin (and her doll) - beautifully done on his part. And his recognition of Eomer's growing feelings for Lotheriel. I like him more and more, the more I read about him (though JRRT certainly wrote an intriguing character to begin with, you are making Faramir ever more real for me). You suggested a conversation between these two in a review earlier in the story and this is the result. Two honorable men bound by family becoming brothers of the heart. I always envision Eomer as a manly man but with deep emotions that he isn't always great at expressing, but he really wanted to thank Faramir for giving Eowyn her smile back. And poor Faramir, until he grows more in confidence, Which he does in my later stories, will be affected by his upbringing which as we all know, wasn't the best **understatement alert**. It is good that they are developing this relationship! And men of my knowing tend to deflect emotion with humour or distraction hence Eomer's line, "before one of us break down into tears, songs or love poetry, I suggest we go and inspect the outer east battlements!” distraction AND humour!! I am fascinated with Faramir (as you can see from my writings!) He is given so little love (save for Boromir and Imrahil, on the probable rare occasions he was able to escape to Dol Amroth) and yet he reaches out to Eowyn in the Houses of Healing with such gentleness, tenderness and patience. Those chapters have always just touched my heart so much. So it easy to imagine that he would be very kind and understanding to his little cousin and her doll. I was also a bit of a tomboy, but still had a very close relationship with either my doll or teddy bear when I was eight. Little sisters of the world Unite!! LOL! Really happy to hear from you! | It's wonderful to see the bonding and understanding between these two brothers-of-the-heart. Poo Faramir, still so uncertain of himself, but all of this will strengthen him in ways he never imagined. Author Reply: Shirebound! Agreed. In writing my more recent stories I have felt this relationship needed more attention. Two honorable men bound together by family. And it has developed nicely. You are right. At this point, only 6 months removed from the war's end and his father's death and his relationship with Eowyn only just starting Faramir still very much is influenced by his past, the dysfunctional relationship with his father. (only the term is modern, the relationship dynamic is very much timeless) He will grow in confidence (as he does in my later stories) realising Eowyn's love for him. Ah! *warm fuzzy feelings* They will make each other very happy. :-)) Side note: God Bless Professor Tolkien for giving us this wonderful world to lose ourselves in during this very stressful time in the world outside Middle Earth!!
