Here I am again... truly intriguing! I rather like your "pre-hobbits", who are very much aware of the nature around them, but not so much of the larger world. And this meeting with the Elves is a fantastic idea. I like the effect it has on the young adventurer. I'll definitely read on! All the best, Nienor Author Reply: Thanks! The hobbits used to be quite a bit more civilised, farmers I think, but were driven into the forest by greedy or superstitious Men. And hobbits seem likely to be in tune with nature, from what I've read in JRRT's letters, so nice observation on your part!

Oh goody! Goody! Elves, and such *wonderful* Elves--Elrond's brood and Glorfindel! Should be interesting when little Pick's family find them. (Do I detect a hint of something Pippish about Pick's personality?) Author Reply: LOL, found this "old" review while answering a new one in this chapter. There might well be something Pippish about Pick's personality, or even Bilboish, I'd think. Thanks!

Dear Ms. Lindelea: This chapter is going good. Again, this chapter is one of the good ones and I get I am going to say this over and over because all your chapters are like that. I think that its funny that there would be all these different creatures in the woods. I think its really funny to have black squirrels that are dangerous. Are they black because of spells? Is that what you mean? We have to go to bed now, but we will read more tomorrow. Good night! Thanks, Lindorien's children Author Reply: Well, the black squirrels aren't dangerous in themselves, they are a *warning* of danger in the Forest. Can you think of other things that warn of danger, without *being* dangerous? They are black because of the evil spreading over Greenwood, which will eventually cause its name to be changed to "Mirkwood". Good night! I enjoy reading your reviews.

This is getting better and better. I am in love with little Pick! Such a hobbity little character and so cute. Author Reply: Thank you! He is very much like one of my own little hobbits.

I take it all back! (LOL) There are plenty of familiar characters in this story, and the new hobbits are plenty engaging in themselves. This is shaping up to have some interesting ideas in it. I would love to see the simple hobbits helping to influence the decisions of the wise about what to do with the threat, and I would also like to see the compassion of the Elves and the meddlesome nature of Gandalf helping shape what happens to the hobbit ancestors. It all comes around in the end, doesn't it!
