What a fabulous conversation -- so many little pearls throughout! I especially loved the part about the sea -- it is very special in Tolkien's realm, isn't it? Wonderful. Author Reply: Thank you. It's very important to me that Frodo receive the healing, comfort, respect, and peace that he earned. Imagining him sailing West, and living there, is a particularly compelling fic-subject for me. | |

You do well with my elves. May it be that I am as gentle some day with your hobbits. Círdan is, to my mind, not an easy character to depict. You have seen that he must have the strength to wait for the very last ship and the wisdom to guide those that go before him. I like this depiction of him. I particularly loved the line: “Home is that place, or that person, that sings the song we recognize, Frodo, and which recognizes us.” THAT is wisdom worthy of the Istari! I salute you.
