| There's an SoA listserv? Did it take the place of the old Yahoogroups group? (It's possible I knew about it and forgot, and it's also possible I never heard about it, as I was away from all things fanfic for much too long a time. My old email that I used for Yahoogroups and many other things, including SoA review-writing and sign-in, is also long gone.) Please disregard this question if it's inconvenient or inappropriate somehow. I'm sending warm thoughts Dreamflower's way, and yours. | I'm interested but I don't know how to "post a reply on the list serve" (or even get on the "list serve," so I don't ever get any emails from SoA). I don't think it's wise to post my email address here, so if you can tell me how to send you a message.... I'm posting this here in case there are any other technologically challenged people who have the same question, so you don't get cheated out of other possible beta readers. What exactly does a beta reader do? Is it something like an editor? I'm not a writer but I'm willing to give it a shot -- beta reading that is, not writing! I don't normally read stories that aren't finished but I'd make an exception in this case. Best wishes for Dreamflower's recovery. Author Reply: Well, in our case, we first write the chapters on Google Doc, and then we go back over them to make any changes and additions that are needed. Once that's finished, I get the chapter ready for posting, and then I copy and paste the chapter onto a Word document. There, I get it ready for posting onto Fanfiction.net, Archive of Our Own, and Stories of Arda. If you decide to accept our invitation to beta-read our story, Dreamflower and I can send you an invitation to access Google Docs. K.G. Author Reply: And thanks for your good wishes! | |
