Telparian  by Jay of Lasgalen 3 Review(s)

Brave Legolas. I was not nearly so brave or composed as he upon hearing of my mother's death and seeing her body.

How wonderful that Legolas chose to give his baby sister one of his most beloved possessions. And that he worked so hard in secret to return the bow to like new condition, adding her name as its final glory.

Poor Thranduil, torn between his own grief, elven tradition, and his young son's need. Very wise of him to realize that helping Legolas would also help himself. And that elven tradition was not as important as the young one who needs him so.

I reviewed this story at ff.net when it first came out but I feel compelled to say here again how much I like it. I'm glad you're posting it here too, Jay.

Dangit, that was a sad beginning. Sigh. I hate sad stories. I love sad stories. I've always been less fond of the Mirkwood elves then some others, but I must say that Thranduil and little Legolas and really growing on me; I blame such growing obsessions on authors like you and stories like this. (Like I need more LOTR things to obsess about. Ah, well, I wouldn't complain if I didn't love it so much.) Looking forward to more, though I suspect the journey will be hard on them.
