| As a child, I too found comfort in the company of horses. A stables can be immensely calming on the nerves. Oh! Now I cannot wait until Éowyn first meets Faramir's eyes! Will she recognise, even at that early moment, the kind of man he is? Secrets whispered to horses are sacrosanct! I love this and agree completely! I love Théodred as you draw him; he shares a lot of his father's qualities. His little talk with Éowyn is priceless. And "hightailing" – a perfect term for the Rohirrim to use! Author Reply: Lindelea! Horses always strike me as very calming as stables as well. "Oh! Now I cannot wait until Éowyn first meets Faramir's eyes! Will she recognise, even at that early moment, the kind of man he is?" Neither can I! It is one the ideas that drives me through this portion of Eowyn's story which is heavy and laden with troubles. I keep thinking and reminding myself that she will be happy with Faramir! I chopped about 7 years off Theodred's age so that in my mind Eowyn could see as an older cousin to be admired but not so old as to be too distant in age. I knew and admired older cousins growing up. | ‘… secrets whispered to one’s horse were sacrosanct…’ I love that - it seems a very likely part of their culture. So glad Theodred is handling this as he is - it is all well and good to say you want to train, but then you actually have to do it. She is growing in mind and spirit as well as skill. Author Reply: PSW! I thought about it and it very much seems like something that would be part of their culture. :-) About Theodred, exactly. Full real training was required. Anything less and Eowyn would possibly notice and feel worse. This way as you say she grows and discovers really what she can do, gaining confidence along the way!!
