| Very wise of you, Sam. Presents at early breakfast might mean that chores don't get done! I love this about your universe: Frodo closed his eyes for a moment, overcome with gratitude. The Shire safe, that's all I ever wanted, he thought. And for Sam to be back home and happy, Bilbo's heart to be at peace, and Aragorn with everything he deserves after all he's done. And now here we sit, and it's all come to pass. Sitting there reminiscing, they remind me of old soldiers talking over old times. Smoke-ring contests! How delightful! (and a poignant reminder of Gandalf...) What a wonderful shower of gifts! So many thoughtful presents. I especially love the message for Frodo-lad that Elessar sent with his gift to Hollyhock. And you show his tender heart, so much like his father's, beautifully. I love the detail of crunching biscuits and wagging tails. I have to say, though in our Panda-pup's case, after she "unwrapped" her first-ever Christmas present, she rather formed the idea that there might be treats for her in all the presents, and so she stuck her nose in to closely supervise the unwrapping of every present after that point. Ooo, a magical sort of invisible ink! And I love this unexpected gift the Lady gave to Gimli. And from your descriptions of Frodo-lad, I think he is worthy of being trusted with the secret. Because of my ongoing hand and wrist issues I knew this was going to be the last story I wrote (for the foreseeable future, anyway), and really wanted to fill it with all the things I love. | |
