I've always dismissed Curufin and Celegorm as a pair of villain, nothing more. But in this story, Curufin comes across as a more complex person, touched with a hint of sadness. I liked the way he described fire as a symbol of creation and a source of inspiration. Very fitting for a son of Feanor, and the father of Celebrimbor.
Author Reply: Thanks! I mentioned in another story of mine that I often find it difficult to see them as mere villains—I love speculating about their reasons and motivations without downplaying their actions. I’m glad you find it fitting! :) |
