| It makes sense that the hobbits' idea of Heaven would be a Feast. And if there is a "pony heaven," then Bill certainly deserves to go there. I'm guessing that maybe they have him on a blanket in a wagon, and Bert is apparently riding with him. I guess we'll find out in the next chapter when they get wherever they're going. I love the way he has compassion for all other horses, even the ones that belonged to the Nazgul. | |

| There is something very gentle about this chapter. Dear Bill! I'm so glad to know that our wonderful pony makes it through this ordeal. Author Reply: I'm glad you picked up gentleness here. I was aiming for a dreamlike quality in this chapter. Outside of Bill's current sphere of perception, he is being handled with great gentleness and care (though that will only be revealed later).
