| How perfect a gift! Sam will get a lifetime of joy out of these items... as much as joy as knowing his dear Frodo was able to laugh again. Author Reply: It was such fun to work out this idea after writing Bill's dream-impressions of Mordor! While re-reading that part of the original, I went on to read of Sam and Frodo's escape from the Tower and their nightmare journey. When I reached the part where Sam tossed his precious pans down a fissure, something clicked. (I kept reading until the Ring went into the Fire. Dear Sam. Poor Frodo.
