Your depiction of Gimli truly moved me. What a warrior is the short son of Mahal! I love when writers invest Gimli with the dignity and pride he deserves. His friendship with the elf is one of my favorite aspects of the book. The description of Legolas in the literal grasp of the sea was fascinating. Well done! I shall now go re-read the "Ents of Wrath" to cheer up. (A friend and I have started to refer people to that story for "depression therapy". I giggle whenever I think about it.) I just checked this to see if you have updated it, and low and behold, you had. I had forgotten the SoA does not tell you when a chapter is updated, just when it is new. Grr... Anyway, I'm not sure what to say. It's interesting that you have the whole gang together again (except Gimli). I want to read more about Bergil and Belatiel, and I do hope that Mortsdil doesn't kill Legolas. Please update soon! (Especially since you have the next chapter written!) :-) Cheers! Author Reply: Miriel- I think I ought to get extra points for updating so soon. *sighs miserably* Don't worry, Mortsdil doesn't kill Legolas. I'm only stretching canon, so if Tolkien specifically said they lived, then they get to live. Thank you for the review! :)

10 minutes ago my mantra was "Bryn is back, Bryn is back, Bryn is back", now it is once again "No character death, no character death, please, no character death" and "I hate cliffhangers, I hate cliffhangers, I HATE CLIFFHANGERS". It seems you're not only back, you're your old self again and I don't have to pester you any longer for updates. Well, Thundera Tiger, it's your turn then. Author Reply: Imrahoil- Hooray for speedy updates! Character death... yes, well, if it makes you feel any better, I've gone and made myself absolutely miserable. I didn't want to do it, but it was part of the tale. *sigh* I promise to never kill off said character again. Yeah, it IS time for a Thundera update!! Must go pester her... ;) Thank you for the review!!

*breathes grateful sigh of relief* You live! I was actually going to email you if you continued to dwell in that horrid place known as the real world, but thankfully, you're back where you belong! With us! Ah, the glory of collective insanity! Anyway, may I just say that I LOVE the little snippet you've given us? And now I have to go read Cantrip, and what's this about a new story? Clearly I'm out of the loop, but considering that I went on hiatus for a couple months, that's not too surprising. And Ithilien might kill you, but Khamul knows a good necromancer, so we can get you back to finish this story up. Speaking of which... I love the snippet you've given us! I don't want to give a full review yet because the chapter isn't here in full and my ideas are only partially formed, but I am so intrigued and so excited about the possibility of more. PLEASE don't give up on this tale. If you do, I more than understand, but you are required to give me an outline of where it was going to go if you do abandon it. Anyway, I hope the real world treats you well and just remember that you'll always have your friends in the random world of online madness. We do care about you, Bryn, and I apologize if I've been unfairly pressuring you. (You have to realize, though, that this is one of my favorite stories.) Anyway, here's to you and I hope you can find time to catch up and breathe! Author Reply: Thundera- Thank goodness, yes, I do live... slightly battered but still able to stand. *takes several minutes to knock on everything wooden in sight* Cantrip sort of grew from the Aragorn-Halbarad scene in marinus and the Elladan's-a-gamboling-addict-thanks-to-Halbarad scene in Out of the Frying Pan. *snicker* Couldn't help it. Oh I'm going to complete this tale, even if I'm dagging myself to the finish line! It will be finished! It WILL!!! I'm excited to see you've finally updated as well. (As I mentioned to Ithilien--there was some issue of medication and crawling computer screens... made reading rather difficult...) I plan to hop on over and read as soon as I can. *hugs Your Thranduil in excitement until he begins to turn somewhat blue and growls* Please pass on my fondest regards to Khamul. He looked well in the 3rd movie and sure scared me with all that standing by my bedside and shrieking he's been up to. Oh, and I apologize for the shoe I threw at him. ;) Thank you for the fantastic review!!!

Snippet! No! That's not enough! What of Gimli? Who is speaking to Legolas! Bryn, you must update soon! Please? Author Reply: Miriel- I felt so awful about not posting anything in such a long time I thought a snippet the very least I could do. Poor Gimli's still... well, being towed under the ship. And Legolas, well, at least we know he's living. I originally had him rescued by a fishing boat, then realized that wouldn't quite work. So he gets a little special Valar interference. Hooray for mighty Ulmo! Thank you for the great review!! :)

Augh! That's almost as cruel as not posting at all! Ooh! Keel-hauling? *glurg gulp glubble* Not good for Gimli. As for Legolas, who is he conversing with in the waves? I know you wouldn't kill him off, so I have to assume he really has been b#tch-slapped by a wave. Okay, I've been patient this long. I can wait a bit longer. And yes, yes, yes, as much as I want to shake my head and tell you you have been naughty for taking on another fic, I have to admit I have missed your wit on these pages. If it stirs up your muses, write away. Just don't forget us folk back here wanting to know what's going to happen next on Marinus (I know I can get Thundera on my side with this -- I'm seeing a major fanfic campaign with readers emailing you daily, pestering you for more -- even if it is just she and I doing it. Actually, I can think of a few others who would probably join in on the *fun* -- I know a lot of people who are hooked on this story too). As for real life, aw, isn't that vortex a pain? It shows up all over the place, here too. I hope you're finding your way back to the asylum. We miss you. In the meantime, did you see that the MPA nominations want you? If you haven't, email me and I'll send you the details. Seems Out of the Frying Pan is a big hit and they want to pit it against other stories in their Humor category. They need your response soon though. So hurry! In the meantime, I'll put out my wailing plea. It can be rather penetrating, so you'd better hold your ears and squint your eyes if you don't want it to have a serious effect on your other writing. MOOOOOOORRRRRRRE PLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASSSSSE SOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!! Okay, you can relax now. I'm done. Author Reply: Dearest, dearest Ithilien- :) Your tale is at the very top of my "Must Finish Reading And Reviewing" list. Plus I keep wondering what happened to the characters on a daily basis. (Medication made the computer screen too crawly to read. Kinda creeped me out.) I really tried to block the Other Story muse, but it just didn't work. I've still managed to stave off posting another one, though, if that counts for something. Though the prologue has been written for a month. And is just sitting there. Staring at me. Ohhh I was so excited and thrilled and shocked by the nomination!!! I've never been nominated for anything! (It makes me go into automatic high squealy girl mode--the "Eeee, the small furry animal is so cute!" or "Eeee, it's a baby!"--that one--whenever I think about it.) Thank you so much for the review!!! It left me laughing and chomping at the bit to go finish the chapter. :)

Aaauuugh! You didn't leave us with a snippet -- you left us with a DOUBLE cliff-hanger! Aaaaauuuggh! I'm really sympathetic about the RL problems you've been having. Really I am. But that doesn't excuse extreme CRUELTY to your readers! Aaaaaauuughh! *Barbara grumbles... well, I suppose I should be glad that at least you didn't dissect any more elves...* Author Reply: Elena Tiriel- Oh man, I didn't do any better with the cliff-hangers this time either... The next chapter is already written, though, so you won't have to wait too long! (At least, that is my intention. The phrase seems to have backfired on me quite a bit as of late.) *grin* Speaking of dissections... still attempting to *ahem* "borrow" Haldir... ;) Thank you for the review!

O.k., no more threats, it doesn't work anyway. It's good you're back. Author Reply: Imrahoil- I really do try to write and post as quickly as I can. I promise. :) Thank you for the review!!
