This chapter was very different from the others we have receieved as of late. It was very good; haunting, meloncholy, sad. But it also had its fun moments; the letters and the idea of Legolas bounding through the doors and injuring Herenion's nose. Great chapter! Lily

A long and sweeping chapter with a lot going on. I liked the Blind Man's Bluff game and the letters. Frankly, I cannot imagine Rhinure in Minas Tirith but you never know! And your picture of the sea longing was touching. Author Reply: Hmmm, you telling me politely to cut down on the chapter lengths?! ;) To tell you the truth I can't imagine Rhinure in Minas Tirith either. If she does go - it is going to be VERY awkward. Shudder - might have to get her a new wardrobe. Black on a wedding day doesn't sound like a good idea. At least Legolas will be there to smooth things over. He might need lots of practising though. Should get her back quickly so that he can start.

I like seeing the thoughts of the future in this chapter, away from just the daily events in the forest. A wedding, news from the outside, speaking of the sea longing and the need to sail, partings, who would go and who would not - I think it advances the plot to lay these things on the table. Legolas must find it odd to think of himself as newly married, and then knowing he must leave soon and she is unlikely to come with him. I wonder if Thranduil has any regrets about forcing the marriage, knowing Legolas might end up parted from Rhinure forever? Author Reply: I think this is hurting Legolas more than he is letting on. He knows in the back of his mind that he might be parted from his wife. More pressure - but for one it is something he did. Or at least something in him which is a potential cause for tension. As for Thranduil - he probably regrets the whole thing. But given the choice to do it all again, I don't know if he would change anything. Duty comes before everything else - no? And besides, now that they are together at least they have a chance to work things out. If Thranduil never pushed the marriage, they would never have met. Then where would have the two been? Alone. :(

Fabulous chapter, Fan! I like the way it starts off in the hope of a new wedding and ends in a certain amount of despair for old ones. I loved Legolas' slightly dangerous edge in the scene with his warriors, and the clear love there is between him and his father. Now I must go back and read this story from the beginning, so I know what's been going on. How nice to have a good long read in store for over Christmas :) Author Reply: Thank you - I love positive reviews. They make my day - especially now when I am stuck at home with a cold. :( However, I do want to warn you - this fic is nearing 200,000 words and God only knows when it will finish. So you are in for a LONG LONG read. Hope you like the rest of it too.

I've been a big fan of this story since I first read this over at ffn, and I'm so glad it's found another home - and another lot of admirers! Anyway, this chapter was so beautiful - and you've captured the personalities of each of the letter-writers perfectly. The discussion of the Sea-Longing was so lyrical and, well, perfect. This chapter definitely requires a tissue-warning! Author Reply: *Fan hands Flo a box of tissues* Am very sorry for making you cry. I really didn't mean it - okay I did. ;) The letters took me a long time to write. Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Isn't this a lovely site btw? It lets me directly reply to reviews. Yeah!
