| I really like the pretence that Sauron has in this story - that one moment he seems truly interested in Frodo or his background - like asking his name. At first he is quite restrained in his questioning - but then becomes this raging menace and in the event that he can't get his answers the quiet way he will make his victim scream to get it - in this case Frodo. I also really like the idea that Frodo gave his real name when tortured - he could have given any - but then I supposed Sauron would have seen through any lies or deceit - being the master himself. I always wanted to know how Frodo thought when he lands back in reality on the pub floor in Bree - what he was thinking when he saw the eye and loved the idea that the images and feelings remained hidden from those around him as much as possible. JULES Author Reply: To tell you the truth, when I wrote the part when Frodo screamed out his name, I haven't had the idea that Sauron might be able to read minds. But then i thought, hey why not? He's very powerful then perhaps he can do that. That's what makes the scene when he forced Frodo to tell his name give the impression of him (Sauron) pretending not to know, just to show Frodo how he would suffer if he refused to say anything. | |

| Frodo in two places at once and feeling the effects of Sauron in both! This is very exciting. Takes a whole different look at this part of the journey. Love how the parts of the actual story are worked into you new story. Very well done. Author Reply: Am I wicked or what? :) to put Frodo in those kinds of situations. Thanks for liking it! | |
