Sheez, the twins sure are blood thirsty.
Poor Glorfy, perhaps he wishes that he remained dead? The responsibility of being a 'Balrog slayer' could weigh down on anyone.

Oooh, that was so amusing! I loved it. But not yet ready to forgive u for the terribly long wait!

Author Reply: Earwen- I blame the delay on two things: 1.) I was very ill, and 2.) I visited my parents for two weeks and they have no internet access (my darling brother took the computer with him when he went to college). So please forgive me! :) I hope you find the next chapter just as amusing, and thank you for reviewing!

Merciful Valar!! An update!! Yeeaahhh!!!
Wonderful as usual. Absolutely love the fact that this chapter was from Glorfindel's P.O.V :P and we get a chance to see his age, wisdom and loyalty...
speaking of which, I couldn't help but thinking about the times in Rome when it's soldiers became emperors when Elladan and Elrohir were talking about treason...heh. Maybe it's just me. ^_^
Yeah, what's up with the pheasants?? What could truly be amusing about them...I know birds can be amusing ("Look!! drunk birds!!" Don't ask!) but heh??

I also sorta understand where Elladan and Elrohir are coming from when they are complaining about the White Council. It's something I've also wondered about too. Did they really serve any purpose?? Oh well...

"The Balrog slaying seemed to make him an outstanding authority on everything; from weaponry and war counsel to spring wardrobes and which brew of tea Lord Elrond would most prefer." LOL!! My favourite line!!!

An update in 2 weeks? Looking forward to it!!!

Merry X-mas/Hanukka/Kwanzaa, and Happy New Year!!!

Author Reply: Ren- I like Glorfindel, he's such a stable character to have around. Yes, the twins' suggestions are reminiscent of Roman times, aren't they? I've always wondered why Glorfindel didn't take over for Elrond. Technically, he would be the more powerful of the two. I have NO idea what is so amusing about pheasants--I keep trying to ask E2, but they only start laughing. Hmm, we'll get to the bottom of this sooner or later, though... The White Council did a lot of discussing, and it didn't seem to do much. Plus Saruman was Evil In Disguise, so that probably didn't help matters. *lol* The Balrog seems to be Glorfindel's claim to fame. Thank you for the great review!! And Happy Holidays to you, too! :)

What a pleasure to see this new chapter. I was just wondering about what had happened to Aragorn's Unculturing. As usual, this chapter did not disappoint. I loved the 'wild' sons of Elrond and their witty exchanges and well..irreverent remarks about the silliness of excessive committee meetings. Glorfindel has their number! I can't believe the twins were serious about treason against their own father. I guess they wanted to see Glorfindel's reaction? And Glorfindel has pulled out the old 'balgrog slayer'line before. What a pick up line! The Middle earth equivalent of 'I'm a professional football player'. I was glad to see the cameo of a young Legolas and to meet his older brother. They are busy in the Green Wood trying to stay the shadow and I'm sure Thranduil would 'love ' to attend another meeting about what to do. I'm looking forward to being a fly on the wall when Elrond has his fatherly talk with his sons. Good chapter, Bryn. Karen

Author Reply: The Karenator- Something tells me E2 are the type to enjoy testing limits, just to see how far they can overstep them. *snicker* Poor Glorfindel's stuck with the Slayer of Balrogs title for all eternity--he might as well make some use of it! :) I originally wasn't going to put Legolas in, but he sort of appeared. Would have absolutely LOVED to insert Thranduil--love the King to death--but I'm doing my best not to veer too far from the plot. (I'm easily distracted, and vowed this tale wasn't going to get ridiculously long.) I'm working on the dialogue between Elrond and sons as we speak--it's difficult to make sure all the emotions fit together correctly, but it's going fairly well. Thank you for the fantastic review!! :)

I'm certainly glad Glorfindel is around here to beat some sense into Elladan, Elrohir and Elrond. Makes things a lot better.

Author Reply: calenore- It's said the blonde ones are most foolish, but I think Glorfindel's anything but. The poor Elf manages to keep the peace between E2 and Elrond--who are literally different versions of the same Elf. It must be maddening at times. Kudos to Glorfindel for putting up with it, and so gracefully at that! Thank you for the review!! :)

I loved this chapter. You have three of my favorite characters here and the twins are such an intriguing pair in their wild seeking after revenge. Glorfindel is shocked. But I think he's capable of dealing with them, perhaps more so than Elrond is.

Author Reply: daw- I'm still grasping a feel for the twins, but it's fun! :) Poor Glorfindel, but yes, I agree: he is the one most capable of dealing with them. Thank you for the review!!

Whoop! A new chapter. She IS back! Hooray!

"The younger twin shrugged in graceful nonchalance. “Nay, I do not lay blame upon the Council. I would have argued it a large stone monument of sorts—”

“—that just so happened to be in the shape of the fallen Barad-dûr tower,” Elladan sourly finished for him. "

Have I told you I love your E2? I do. They are serious enough to kill but still funny. So many stories just turn them into the Fred and George Weasley of Imladris. Not our Bryn! Kill those orcs, E2, show them no mercy!

Also love the contrast of Glorfindel's military mind and the guerrilla tactics of the Rangers. All this plus a walk-on by our favorite Elf Boy!

Glorfindel and a Teleri maiden? Who knew!

Humble Scribe to his Majesty Thranduil
(who appreciates your acknowledgement of his ringless efforts to thwart evil)

Author Reply: Orophins Dottir- The Fred and George Weasley of Imladris? Oooh, I've never thought of that, but now that you mention it... I will do my utmost best to avoid that. I told myself Legolas wasn't going to make an appearance. He didn't listen. (And now Thranduil wants to make himself known, too... *sigh* Have to beat them all back with a stick, I swear.) Glorfindel seems to graceful and perfect. He needs a bit of color to his history--one that doesn't involve something heroic. *grin* By the way, you have given me an absolutely horrible plot bunny regarding Elves and Science, but I push the matter aside for the time being... ;) Thank you for the wonderful review!!

Been looking forward to this update--thank you! I like tbe way you handle the twins angst

Author Reply: Thank you for the review! :) Sometimes I worry I'm giving E2 a bit much in the angst department, but then again it seems as though they have a lot of baggage...

fliewatuetReviewed Chapter: 4 on 12/20/2003
Yay! A new chapter just before christmas (I will consider it as a present) ...

I loved E2's pick at the Elves' obsession with discussions. Hehe, having spent much too long a time at various universities, all those commitees and councils sound frighteningly familiar. I wonder how the Sons of Elrond themseleves will fare in such a council meeting. Wonderful potential for Daddy-Offspring shouting and glaring contests ...

Will you elaborate more as to the reasons of E2's company's amusement at the sight of a pheasant? For I feel with Glorfindel and have not the slightest idea of a possible meaning of that joke.

Of course, I eagerly await more about Halbarad teaching Aragorn propper "manners", and about E2's reaction to the outcome.

I hope health finds you again, and soon. I wish you happy and untroubled holidays,

fliewatuet

Author Reply: fliewatuet- *lol* Yes, it seems as though the Council did a lot of talking, and nothing else. And you can't exactly talk evil to death. Unless it was a spell of some sort you were speaking... but, anyways... Elrond will be smart enough to grab E2 before council, thank goodness. But plenty of words will be exchanged. Right--I'm in the process of getting to the bottom of the pheasant joke myself. Whenever I ask, they only start to laugh... Glorfindel will get to the bottom of this. Or maybe Halbarad. He seems adept at answering everything. Health is slowly but surely returning, thank you. :) And thank you for the wonderful review!!

What (incredulous cry of pain)! Giving it up? Don't you even dare to think about it. I get myself a voodoo doll if you do. I mean it. But for now, there is a new chapter to read and hopefully it will help to calm me down again. Bryn, do us a favour and try to recuperate during the holidays.

Author Reply: Imrahoil- I was just as terrified as you, trust me. AHH! No more voodoo dolls, please! I think there are enough people out there with them. Right, am recuperating slowly but surely. (The slowness kills me, I swear.) Thank you for the review!!! :)
